Could I guess?

Raise you're hand if you're getting an iPad (no, that's not a new electronic monthly product for women)

I just looked on engadget and here's what they have to say.
Red = FAIL on apple's part

Here it is folks, the Apple iPad. The screen is gorgeous, tilting is responsive, and the thing is super thin. Still, if you've used the iPhone before -- and you can see the two devices side-by-side here -- there's not a lot of surprises here so far. Here are some initial thoughts on the iPad:
  • It's not light. It feels pretty weighty in your hand.
  • The screen is stunning, and it's 1024 x 768. Feels just like a huge iPhone in your hands.
  • The speed of the CPU is something to be marveled at. It is blazingly fast from what we can tell. Webpages loaded up super fast, and scrolling was without a hiccup. Moving into and out of apps was a breeze. Everything flew. you'll see WHY it's so fast in the next bulletpoint
  • There's no multitasking at all. It's a real disappointment. All this power and very little you can do with it at once. No multitasking means no streaming Pandora when you're working in Pages... you can figure it out. It's a real setback for this device. even my 2 year old cell phone can multi-task. I think apple is afraid that if they allow multi-tasking then it suddenly won't be 'lightning fast' and they'll lose that image. c'mon apple, this is weak!
  • The ebook implementation is about as close as you can get to reading without a stack of bound paper in your hand. The visual stuff really helps flesh out the experience. It may be just for show, but it counts here.
  • No camera. None, nada. Zip. No video conferencing here folks. Hell, it doesn't have an SMS app! no camera?! no texting? wow...

Cesar: random computer question.
I have a bunch of TV shows on DVD's that I've gotten for x-mas, b-days, etc but I want to put them on my computer.
what's a good program for that? I'm not worried about HD space, I've got a TB set aside for Media stuff

I agree with that, just wish they'd work on some of the performance aspects of it. (multi-tasking, texting, pictures)

Hey, you forgot No Flash. As in Adobe flash. Which means lots of websites are a no go. Like Hulu.
It can fail all day, and it will still sell like crazy.
The screen is the same resolution as my netbook. The only advantage it has over my netbook is that it's a little thinner and lighter.
However;
My processor is faster
I have a camera (pics or video)
SD slot
Ethernet
Multiple USB's
I can multi-task
Currently I can dual boot into either Windows 7 or Ubuntu and will be adding Chrome OS once it's out. (iPad runs the iPhone OS)
I have a 160GB harddrive and paid $300 (iPad's max at 64GB for $699)
Also, I can run flash

At the launch, Steve Jobs (or as fanboi's call him "god") was showing off the ability to surf the web.
He went the NY Times website (which runs Adobe Flash) and this was the front page. Notice the "Plug-in Missing" icon.
It should say, "You can't see this because you have a giant $700 iPhone that can't make calls or take pics."

haha, what an idiot!
of ALL the websites to visit while showing the WORLD what his newest invention can do, he picks one that can't properly load because Apple and Abobe don't play well together.

And that reason alone is why this will sell like crazy. First one I see in public (probably at a Starbucks) I'll ask the owner if they mind if I take a picture of it. When they say yes, I'll take out my netbook, open MS Word, start playing music through Pandora, and then go to my Photobucket account using any browser I choose, and after all those things are open, I'll use the camera on the netbook to take the picture, and upload while my Pandora is cranking out music.

I'm currently using ImTOO DVD Ripper. Sometimes the video/audio doesn't sync correctly.
I'll try out Aimersoft DVD Ripper or something else to see what works.
You may not be worried about space now, but eventually (soon) it will be an issue.

let me know how it works after you've messed with it.
I have 1.5TB available just on my external drives and if I start running out of space on the desktop, I'll just add another drive. (have room for 2 more)
I'm not worried about it slowing me down either, my C drive has nothing on it other then OS and basic things. my D-H are my storage / media / junk files.

i use a program called handbrake to get DVD's (tv shows, movies) into iTunes... i think they have a windows version too, but i use the Mac version. it works well on most DVD's- except for Disney, which puts tons of stuff on there to screw things up....

Got my new internet connection today.
Also found out that Speedtest.net is limited on their upload testing.
Seems no one has a fast enough "Upload" test for me to do.
My new FiOS speed is 35mb Download and 35mb Upload

Fastest upload server I can find was San Fransisco which gave me the following

LA is slow on the upload

San Diego is better

Vegas is decent

For those of you haven't seen videos of Apple's new iPad, this is the best commercial out there.
Why is it the best? Because it was made 3 years before Steve Jobs officially announced the iPad.
Granted, there has been a few changes, but the idea is still pretty much the same.
