Did they fill up your gas?

The rev before shutdown was to prevent leftover fuel from sitting in the combustion chamber for the next startup. In 2004's, a weak battery and starter would sometimes not ignite it the next startup. It was fixed for 2005 with improved parts. The 2004's were recalled to install those items. It is up to you whether you still want to do it now after all the fixes. Whatever you do, try not to shut it down when cold. Drive it or let it idle till its at operating temps.

Thanks for the update!

My low fuel light just came on. I have about 3 gallons left in it. I've been trying to keep it low for a week.

also i didnt realise that both dealerships (cardialy and seaside) are owned by the same people. its funny cause i now the family too.
Sounds about right. Like I said I've been to both dealerships and I would never go back to Val Sthough in C-side. In the past, I've delt with that same guy and I have always find him to be 'on top of things'.

Regarding loaners, I was told because of liability issues Mazda no longer provides loaners. Instead we get rental cars through Enterprise and Mazda covers $19.99 a day. That only gets you a compact car with no insurance.

I know that Cardinale owns both dealerships, but the mangenment in Salinas is head and shoulders above C-sides.

Seems the salinas dealership is the better of the two.

I am happy to say my experience at Cardinale Mazda Salinas was excellent and would recommend them any Mazda owners in the area. The service manager was courteous, professional, and prompt at returning phone calls. He was glad I sent him the additional recall information that wasn't forwarded to him from others in the dealership. He was more than happy to provide the services if MNAO was reimbursing. It sounds like that there will be no issues going forward for others hopefully.

My 8 was returned to me from Cardinale Mazda in Salinas with a full tank of gas and a washed exterior. They fixed the driver's visor, installed the new spark plugs, and updated PCM.

I haven't driven the car enough today to figure if the changes had any effect.

Dang, kind of old thread but good to see people posting here from central coast...I'm guessing ferrocene drives a silver 8 with gram lights? lol If I'm mistaken, I prolly seen you around DLI then. Seen a white 8 that flashed me at fort ord about a month back. You on here at all?

I guess its time for "holy back from the dead batman" but whatev.

Was also looking around to see if there were any Monterey area locals. I'm planning on taking in my 8 to one of the dealers for a compression check, a real one. And since the guys at Seaside didn't believe my numbers and are skeptical about everything I say, I wanted to try the Salinas dealer.

Are those cool guys still over there at Salinas? Anyone here still posting from 2006 lol?

Oh, and to the guy two posts above me. If you were around Fort Ord, my buddy drives a white 8 with the mazdaspeed kit. We both went to CSUMB.

Peace
