This morning on my way to an appointment in Downey on the I-5 I saw an RX-8 . It was grey-blue (like the color of this text... Titanium Grey). I was a bit shocked to see it since it's not out yet but when I saw the dealer plates I guessed it was pre-production or something. Things were slow moving with the traffic so I pulled up next to the car and rolled down my window to get the driver's attention. I mouthed "how?" as in how are you driving this and tried to ask if he was test driving for a magazine but the driver just glared at me for a moment then looked away.

Sheesh. God forbid you try to talk to someone on the freeway unless you're a hot chick or something. :p

It's too bad I didn't have my digital camera with me. The car looks awesome on the road. I had seen it at the LA Auto show but on the road it stands out as a rolling piece of art. Anyone else catch a glimpse of this one on the roads? Or maybe the guy will read this post...

 

Let this be a lesson to all of us - NEVER get caught without a camera!!! :D

73JPS and I visited our Mazda dealer last night and he reported that there about 50 RX-8's being driven around the US (47) and Canada (3). Keep your eyes open!

 

Do you really believe they made 50 pre-production RX-8s?

 

They did something very similar with the 350Z.

I saw one today too. Red one with dealer plates. 2 dudes. Awesome car. I was in my red S2000. The RX-8 red is not as bright as my red. This was by South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.
