$15,500.00? Not worth it and the US spec is better anyway.

pretty much impossible to register cars like this in california. plus, the ad doesn't say whether this is the base model, type e, or type s. and there's virtually no difference between the jdm and our models. sure it's cool that it's a jdm car, but for 14k, whoever buys it is buying a nightmare just in terms of registration. if i have to go thru all the registration nightmare, i'd get a car that's not available here, like a silvia or later model fd. it's fun to look thru that company's website, tho

Oh i know. Actually BUYING the car is rather unrealistic to most of us. But hey, its still cool to see one down here. The dealer seems stupid (like most in LA) and probably doesn't know. But it looks like what would be a US Grand Touring because it has the Navi. So is that type s?

I believe the Japan spec is better than the US spec
if they are both 6 speed with 6 port engine
the japan version has 250 HP and the US one only has 232

Not true and the JDM specs are missing an oil cooler.

Taken from wikipedia:
"The RX-8 is available in various models in different markets around the world. Standard models include:

* 6-speed manual "High Power" with an output of between 170 kW (231 hp) and 177 kW (237 hp) and a 9,000 rpm redline. Japanese models produce 184 kW (255 hp).
* 5-speed manual "Standard Power" tuned to 141 kW (192 hp) with the redline reduced to 7,500 rpm.
* 4-speed automatic tuned to 141 kW (189 hp) in some markets, while the U.S. automatic is stated to deliver 197 SAE net hp (158 kW).
* 6-speed automatic (available in the U.S. market as of 2006) developing 212 hp (170 kW) with a redline at 7,500 rpm."

I will have to dyno to tell you if the readings for the Jap versions are correct...

There were 2 versions in Japan
One is same as out 04 AT 4 port engine
But they have AT and 5 MT with around 210 HP both with only 1 oil cooler

And they have a better version
witch is
6 port engine with 6 MT only
comes out around 250 HP
and same as US version with 2 oil cooler

Please correct me if i'm wrong

Sorry guys but that data is from when they were first released. The US specs were first listed as 250HP too but they later had to stop advertising that and even some of the early cars sold were bought back due to the false advertising.

Even the 09 RS (R3 in the US) doesn't have 255HP

I know the horsepower was incorrect, but look at the curb weight he just listed. "Mass 1310 kilograms (2882 lbs)" I thought the RX-8's were ~3100 pounds?

rx8's are not sub 3000lbs, for the most part. A base with no options can get there but I know my GT tips the scales over 3100, in stock form.

Someone go search the info and post your findings

"3064-pound curb weight"

at least for an R3.
