Question Question for those of you with NAV in the Bay Area.

Does your Navigation get all messed up while driving from one marked point to an other or anything whacky such as showing your position over water? I have had this happen often and I am about to pick up my car from the dealer they just did some detail work and looked at the navigation. They said everything was normal which I think is BS. They told me I have to bring it when it is happening, but I told them when I stop the car it recalibrates so it won't matter. I also told them my voice feedback does not turn off so it keeps stating directions when I don't want it. They told me I have to turn off the system volume, which defeats the purpose of the chimes if I turn off all the sound, so they told me the extra menu option of voice feedback which does not work is normal.

Basically they told me I have to talk to Mazda about it so I can talk to a dealer about it, I told then lets cut the BS and just talk now since you are the dealer. So basically nothing was done anyone have probs like this??

Mazda has a tech tip which states "voice off" does not in fact do what you think and you have to set volume to zero instead.

Do a search for "nav system" there will be some threads that give you different options on how to get a new system or deal with the one you have

Equis,

Do you have first edition Nav or second edition? It sounds a lot like a first edition unit. I had all the problems you are describing and was able to get a second edition Nav under warranty. Now the GPS lock is almost constant and the new unit has yet to get lost. Before it would frequently show me driving in the middle of the bay and not correct for about 20 miles. Regarding the voice assist. Once turned on it would not go off unless I did a system reset. Gee maybe you got my old unit.

Yes 2g's and you would think they would seriously look into the problem, I looked at the history of where they took it to "test" it they barely drove it around the block. I tested it yesterday from the dealer to the Great Mall in Milpitas and the thing was popping me off the freeway and recaclulating a reroute then would pop me back on the opposite nearby freeway and then recalculkate again. Very annoying.

So far the system works fine on mine. I bought my car last September -> no idea which version I have. I was up in Sac yesterday and the system worked perfectly.

When you first turn on the caar - the nav will say NAVTECH if you have the old one, MAZDA with the symbol if you have the new one

I have the old one then, maybe that is why the navi is not working as well as it should.
