Potentially moving to LA

Hey all, I have been given the opportunity to move to Los Angeles for a couple months this summer. I currently reside in Nashville, TN as a college student. How is the 8 scene in LA? I ask because I wouldn't know anybody, and besides working, would have nothing to do.

Another concern I had is getting my 8 over to LA. It's about 2,000 miles from Nashville and I'm wondering if it could handle the drive, and also how it is driving an 8 in LA traffic.

If you live in LA and could give me some pointers/advice I would appreciate it. I don't know what I'd be getting myself in to as the longest I have ever stayed in LA is a week.

Which part of LA are you going to be moving into? The traffic can be terrible depending on where you're moving to and where you have to commute in / out of...

I'm not sure what you're looking for in regards to the 8 'scene' but there are plenty of track days within a 2-3 hour drive depending on where you are - Streets of Willow, Big Willow, Buttonwillow, Auto Club Speedway, Chuckwalla, and if you want to drive a little farther away, you can get out to Laguna as well... There are also a lot of auto-x events, but I can't really comment on those.

I (close to) daily drive my 8 without a problem in LA. It does get a little hot in the summer if you're more inland, but other than that, I'm not sure you'll have a problem.

I suppose the question is what are you moving to LA for? Can you get away without a car? How much "spare time" will you have out here?

Still looking for a place to live but West Hollywood is the most likely option. Moving here to help my little sister get settled in for the summer. I will likely find a job and other than that will not have many other obligations. I have a Mazda 3 that I use as a daily driver but I would want to bring my RX-8, for hopefully obvious reasons. I don't think I could not bring a car down.

I'd say it's definitely worthwhile to drive your 8 out to LA. There are many, many amazing driving roads in the greater LA area, especially the canyon roads around Malibu and Angeles National Forest. The RX-8 is the perfect car for canyon twisties like this, and you'd be hard pressed to find a better area in the US for great driving roads. And of course, there's the world-famous Pacific Coast Highway, which you have no doubt seen in countless car commercials. The drive up through Big Sur is not to be missed!

Here's a great guide to what awaits you if you decide to drive your 8 out here:
