Hey Twinkie, what is the difference between the Seven's and the Five's (besides cost)? I like the thought of electronically adjustable from inside the car. I change driving modes way too often to adjust manually.

how technical you want to get...

if ur not going to do trackdays that often...5
or u want to learn about the dynamics of fine tuning...7
doing comp...do ur homework firstborn

this controller is just what im after...its going to be the DD..so speed-based adjustment is what im after...goin karting

For me it is all about street handling. I know I am nutz but I tend to drive REAL fast at night when people are not on the roads (120ish on the 405). I want to keep it safe though so the car needs to stay tight. I haven't changed my suspension yet as I don't like a hard ride when I have guests in the car.

The electronic controller looks sweet so that really has me thinking about doing this as well but I am not sure which is a more appropriate fit. From what you are saying it sounds like the 5 is. Does that seem correct to you as well?

From what your going to be doing with it...yes stick with the 5...

Also, considering the type of abuse your intending to put on the suspension, you might want to not get nearly as stiff as your thinking at those speed on that type of surface...the controller is also what you are after, and your going to want to go (>>>>....<<) stiff, stiffer, stiffer, stiffest...then ease it back at certain speeds...

Tighter is better on tracks where the pavement is nice and even for the most part...which is not true everywhere else...

Note, I do not publicly condone street racing, or any other illegal activity...

Just for the record, I do not street race and also do not condone it. I just drive fast. It is not a competition to me. I do not equate speed to danger. There is a distinct difference. Weaving in and out of traffic is dangerous particularly if you can not process the information fast enough to react quickly.

To say that being safe while driving fast is stupid would be saying that Nascar can not be done safely. Granted, everyone on the track is trained, but they are also going 180-220 MPH while going around each other. And in a much tighter fashion than anything I have ever done on the street. I don't intend to get into a long drawn out debate but suffice it to say that it is very possible to drive fast and still drive safe.

lol. Some day I might take my car to race, but you are kind of missing the point. I drive fast because I frequently am driving 40+ miles home in the middle of the night, there is noone on the roads, and I don't feel like taking a long time to get there. I would rather just tune the car so that is as safe as possible.

U can relate the method of driving fast in traffic to NASCAR, however u cant relate our RX8 which is pretty safe to be in a crash at 0-70 mph to a NASCAR which is safe at a crash at 100+ coming out with no scratches (helmet, suit, cage, neck brace, 5 point harness, pit crew standing by, emergency services standing by, better brakes, tires, etc,

I loved it :-) Well, that and I think it is about the only picture I have of it.

Zumn, while I used the analogy, it is only to point out that speed and saftey are not diametrically opposed. And actually NASCAR's are usually going twice as fast ;-)

the difference is EVERYONE in Nascar is going FAST, they are all trained, and have vehicles equipped to handle those speeds and driver demands.
But I digress....

B.K. Got your voicemail but didn't get a chance to call you as I was out of town.
We'll chat soon

meet and optional dyno day

yo. there's a meet going on this upcoming saturday (the 17th) in the Santa Clarita area. it's an optional dyno day, with a bbq, photo shoot, and canyon run/cruise.

it's been posted on the bimmer forums and there's already a promising turnout. this meet is for all cars, so bring whatever car you'd like!

here's the link to the thread, https://www.rx8club.com/west-rx-8-forum-34/so-cal_meet-2-optional-dyno-day-164155/ .

post if you can make it!
