OakTree in San Jose has two 8s
OakTree Mazda just got in two 8s. They are preorders but more are expected soon. I still haven't even seen the car in person so I'm heading over there tonight to check it out. If you preordered through OakTree Mazda you car may be in :D
take it easy

Cool -- they're getting closer...
I'm waiting for my pre-order at Marina Motors (Capitola).
Wonder if they were on the same truck? Maybe tomorrow...
Thanks for the update,

I am waiting for my pre-order at Marina
Motors as well.
I just spoke to someone there and they
haven't received any cars yet but expect to
in the next day or two.
FYI, I was #3 or #4 on their pre-order list.

Are you sure Marina is getting cars in tomorrow? Today I got a call from Ray and he told me that my car had been released from LA and they would be getting it in "hopefully by the weekend".
Frankly that seemed a bit long to me for a drive from LA up here, but who knows how many stops they do in between.

Just talked to Ray at Marina Mazda.
He said that reason cars have been held up in port is that they failed one of the three emission tests.
Some have been released and are on their way to Marina, but not mine ... yet.
Hey Mazdabob, where in Cupertino are you?
I'm off Foothill Blvd., on 10751 Santa Lucia Rd.
Stop by and introduce yourself some day.
I would like to see what the green looks like.

I drove by Oaktree last night but by the time I got there at 7p.m. the 8's were put in a locked garage and not left sitting out in the open lot. One of the workers said that all the managers and mechanics where crawling all over the 2 cars. Too bad I just missed seeing them..

brothervoodoo,
I went by OakTree too and they were locked up for the night
So I drove over to Almaden Mazda and they had a Sunlit Silver base model in the showroom. Its the first time I've seen the car in person. It was kinda weird after watching the car develop over the last few years. I must say Mazda did a really nice job. The ergonomics of the 8 feels a lot like my 3rd gen 7, except the shifter is a few inches further back. I felt right at home.
I hope your cars come in soon.
Mike

picked up our Blue RX-8 from Oak Tree today!!!
OK!!! we picked up our blue RX-8 from Oak Tree Mazda today at 13:00. it now has 75 miles on it, some from Stevens Canyon road, some from Montebello Road, some from just around town.
and the kids left dirt & footprints in it. the grandparents were suitably impressed. Grandma says it was going 100, Grandpa says nothing but wears a good smile. Wife says she was going the speed limit.
people driving by slow down to look, everyone says "wow! nice car!"
this was the 1st RX-8 sold by Oak Tree. so we're probably 3rd in California... ?? but 1st in N CA.
neener neener neener!!
Oak Tree had 2 auto-trucks parked in front today, unloading at least 6 RX-8s. NOT ALL OF THESE WERE PREORDERED! so if you want one head over and grab it tomorrow. but be prepared to pay a bit over MSRP now
... turning the kids in to rotorheads at an early age!! don't call CPS on us!!

I stopped by Oak Tree Mazda on Sunday, 7/20, to see if more RX-8's came in. They had 3 in the showroom - silver, yellow, and black. The silver really looks great! I asked the sale manager why they are getting "extra" cars before the pre-sold cars - he said be patient. It seems like the pre-sold cars should have priority over unsold cars.

They hadn't had their first pre-order car yet.
I agree that the pre-order should have been given priority but it seems that the dealer cars
were released from the port first.
It stinks.

It seems like dealers are starting to get enough RX8's in that they're sitting on the showroom floor. I wonder how long before you can get one below sticker.

It certainly appears that Mazda is fousing on releasing the dealer allocations before they release the pre-order allocations. I certainly hope I'm wrong on this and this situation is pure coincidence.
Meanwhile aside from spreading rumors, still waiting...

Never attribute to malice what you can attribute to stupidity. At least in Marina Motor's case, their first shipment of three vehicles were all preorders.

However, their salesmen have been very patient and pleasant to deal with.
Just a few days longer, I keep telling myself.

Additional info: Mazda of Stockton had three RX8s come in over the weekend and they sold two of them almost immediately. They expect several more before the end of the month.

******, I hope you get your 8 soon. At least you are #4. I'm one of those who MIGHT get the 8 between "Mid Aug - Mid Sept". Given how things have been, I am pschologically preparing myself for early Oct.
And yes, the guys at Marina have been very pleasant to deal with.

However, I don't think the cars in the Aug-Sept batch will have to sit in port so long.
I figure they will fix the emissions problem in Japan.
By the way, my car has been released from port and _should_ be in a "few days".

He bought a Titanium Grey without pre-order for MSRP today. You might not have to wait.

The correct spelling is Magnussen Mazda.
