NorCal Touge's and meets.

Hey guys, thought I'd start a thread for all the touge addicts out there. Post up good roads if you know any, and if you're interested I'll organize a meet where we can haul *** and try not to get arrested.

Happy Touge!

There are some great twisties around the valley. I prefer Mt. Veder and Chiles / Pope Valley roads. You just have to watch for the bicycles this time of year.

Sounds like it has some major strikes against it already...

Good roads won't have sheriffs or lots of trucks.

Agreed. Also, I don't think it's a good idea to post about roads that you run. You never know what websites Ponch reads.

I don't think the flaming was quite so much for driving mountains, which a good percentage of the forum does. It was rather your attitude after the fact that turned it into a roast fest.

While I'm not defending such behavior, driving on twisty roads was alive and well before Shuichi Shigeno (Initial D creator) was even born.

Hah the PoPo Patrol already know that we run the mountain. As for them and the trucks, just slow down when you see headlights and hug your lane. And I'll call it whatever the hell I want beezies!!!

You guys do make a good point, I'm still looking for good roads near the valley that don't have cops to ruin our fun.

Posting about the when and where of meets is a bad idea though; they might know you do run them, but they won't know when and where if you didn't post them. Even worse, nothing says guilty as charged better than a line of shiny sports cars that look like something out of Fast and Furious to our Mustang loving Ponch.

Mountain runs are TONS of fun as long as you know the limits of your car, are out there with experienced drivers, and don't do this at night in the FOG... like Mr. "Italian Stallion" over here.

INITIAL D IS REAL!!!! Tsuchiya help make it! i smoked plenty of skylines here even though i'm Zeriouslee under poWered by using the gutter technique, and my most advanced move is the "turn off my headlights when i'm behind the car i'm chasing so i can pass them withoUt them noticing me" tEchnique. what what are u talking about jedi? when its night time and raining is the best time to toeghey, in the rain, u don't waste as much tires aZ u normally would, so that u c6n run longer endurancezzzz sessions. last time i almost lost to a evo going down hill on a toeghey, he had a sick misfiring system. but he underestimated my ability to skip corners by jumping straight through them going down hill. and fog u say? pshh, i drive so well, i "feel" the corners, so i technically, i don't even need to ssee. and this is no joke, if u don't believe me, then challenge me to toeghey anytime. i'm from team speedstars. when we beat other crews in toeghey, we take their stickers(we pay for them of course) and we cut them in half and stick it on our cars upside down to show everyone that we beat them. of couse everyone on my team is already dead from either flying off or into the mountain, but that experience is only goona make us better.

Canyon Run=
Touge= Makes it sound like your just in on a fad
Safe spirited driving=
Driving in a group of cars, in the fog, not accounting for others/your own driving abilities=

Having said that, here's some info your probably actually looking for:.....
Lived in Norcal for middle & high school. The best roads tend to be in the East Bay cause it's not as densely populated and what not; more room to go around too. Try:
-Mt. Hamilton Rd.
-Palomares Rd. / Calavasas Rd.
-Vasco Rd.
-Morgan Territory Rd.
-Mines Rd.

Some of the best memories from HS on those roads. Ranging from 15 mins to and hour plus for each road.

Thanks Wing5. I'll try a couple of those roads when I have a weekend off. And you're absolutely right, if you're going to run with your buddies, GO YOUR OWN PACE. If someone is slower, pass them safely and wait for them at the top. Seriously guys, there would be way way fewer accidents if people would swallow their pride and slow the **** down to a pace they can handle. Its when you get in over your head the people get hurt.

That's why you run through the canyon run and know the road so you know what to expect rather than run into it blind with fog setting in.
