For me, the weather got in the way. Third Sunday of each month puts it to this up coming Sunday. I'm up for it if you mean meeting at the Fremont Big Mall.

I've been wondering about this myself. We should meet up this weekend, either D&B or Fremont Mall.

Oops, Saturday instead of Sunday. That posting on the "Other Board" says 6pm. That's a little late for me. I'd be more inclined to meet earlier and grab a late lunch at D & B's instead of dinner. Only my thoughts.

I'm interested in meeting up as well or going for a drive. I'm just curious why the Socal RX-8's have a bigger turnout for their meets than us Norcal RX-8's.

6PM is a bit late for me as well. The usual 2PM meet at D&B had decent turnouts in the beginning. Maybe we can try o give it another go?

I also agree 6 is a bit late. I'm open to meeting earlier at the mall or going for a drive or whatever. I haven't been to one of these great mall meets in a long time. I'm not sure why they seemed to stop altogether. I couldn't make it to several of them in a row and then when I was free they had basically stopped happening. I think a little drive once in awhile to a new location would be nice, maybe pick a new back road and little tavern or something every month or so. We can go in different directions so it's not always the same people driving so far to come to a meet/drive. :D

I propose that we meet at the Great Mall in Fremont this next Saturday, top level of the parking garage at 2pm. At that time we can discuss future meeting locations as well as organize some rides.

Blaaz, take 880 South to Milpitas and the Great Mall Parkway off ramp. Go North, back over the freeway and keep your eyes open for The Great Mall, it'll be on your left side.

Here's a local map

We've been meeting on the top level of the multi level garage that is located on the backside of the Mall. There's only one.

I will see if I can make it. I was just wondering because the Great Mall is in Milpitas, not Fremont. Anyone up for karting or D&B?

I put it on my calendar. See ya at 2pm. (Karting is some sort of go-karting thing. I think it's indoors. There are a couple of places in the bay area and apparently its fun but I can't tell you for sure.)

I'll be there on Saturday also. It would be fun to take a nice drive somewhere around the bay, but gas is gonna be killer (it's about $2.85/gal, and by the way things are going right now, I wouldn't be surprised to see it hit $3/gal by Sat).

I paid $2.93 in SF today. I barely even look at the price anymore. I really don't want to know if it goes over $3. Remind me to stay out of Oakland. :D

I know there is a raging debate regarding 87 vs 89 vs 91 octane on this forum but when I tried 87 octane I noticed that there wasnt any knocking in the engine so I'm just going to stick with 87 octane and save a few bucks to go into my future mods.

HaloX, I recall another thread addressing this issue. The poster said as long as he wasn't under heavy load the 8 ran great. Then he explained that during a flat out run up the Grapevine his car just shut down. It was believed this was due to the sensors detecting pre-detonation which sounds right if you are running low octane.

Hmm...I brought the car to 8.5k to 9k while using 87 octane to see if there was knocking and there wasnt any. Although this trial was on freeway on ramps and quiet flat roads. I never tried revving the car up to 9k on hills, especially one like the Grapevine. I know that different people will get different results so its more of a personal choice on gas.
But anyways I guess the moral of the story is on the freeways just keep it calm and on the twisties rev it like no tomorrow.

If you understand what happens with high compression engines then high octane fuel makes sense. I need to hear more about rotaries as to what is high compression and what is not. I don't think it measures the same way. Then again, it might be the second time I was wrong.
