Might be purchasing an 8!

Might be purchasing an 8!
Not sure, if I'll be getting one or not yet. But, I'm looking to get rid of my '96 Mustang. My choices for a replacement are simple. I'll either get a newer '00+ Mustang V-6 again, or go with the RX-8. I'm torn, because I love the rotary, but have been a fan of Mustangs for years! However, I didn't come here to get you're opinion or to help me decide which to get! I know what that will be! I came to ask questions. (Okay, so it will help me to make a decision.)
What is the status of the RX-8. What woes does it suffer, and what deals can be seen at dealerships. I'm willing to travel a bit if the price is right, so it doesn't matter if the dealer is in the Sacramento area. (Though I'd like to keep it in Northern CA if possible!)
Thanks for your help on this one!
P.S. If I get the Eight, it will be the 6spd model. I can't stand autos anymore.

where are you from? I got my rx-8 in oakland for $25,500. I got the tit gray A/T with appearance pkg, and spoiler. The rx-8's are pretty rare when it comes to a/t but stick shift is usually well stocked.
