I think Thew meant to drive up to his area... in Santa Barbara. :P I'm game, irregardless of the crazy gas prices. Maybe head to Carmel, cruise through 17 mile drive..etc.

Santa Barbara... Inn of the Spanish Garden. Nice little inn, very romantic... get a room upstairs so you can overlook stuff. Nice view of the pool and surrounding area. Rated #1 in the city... has free breakfast in the morning.

Inn of the Spanish Garden

Found my review of the place... here it was on Tripadvisor...

"Our room was #22, and it was an upstairs King Suite. Perfect view of the pool, very cozy, quiet, and the decor was just great. Bed was a +, comfy and clean. We were pleasantly surprised to see the bathroom to be very spacious and clean. In the morning, the complimentary breakfast was good (Cereal, grapefruit, egg/potatoe quiche, toast, bagels, juice, etc). Staff was very friendly and helpful, and parking was not a hassle."

And yes I drove my RX-8 there, parking was great

If you come far enough north you might be able to get some of the northern CA people to meet up with your drive. Maybe meet half way or something?

HEY! That's my sentimental side showing through... You know how it is... ALL RX-8 Male owners are closet sentimental guys.

How bout we all meat in Taft ? off the 5 drive over to 101, hit Solvang , San Marcos Pass then SB. At that Point after Lunch / Dinner we can all go back from SB to our prospective homes.

Yeah pretty sad turn out. I would go to for free gas I dont care about the food. I guess it would have helped if we knew a number that we needed with a sign up list. Maybe possible days, oh wel....?

What is the exact meeting location, will there be festivities, and how many people will be covered in the gas, what kind of possible dates are you looking at and how many people do me need to do this? (just some questions others might have before verifying)
