Why not just get an audi.. which already has the improved "idrive 2" that bmw stole from.

I actually went and drove one. Very nice interior.... damn hot car.... so many techno features...

How bout an S5? The bmw 1/335s are pretty nice.. I got to say, but I'm really concerned about 2008's BMW initial quality standings from JD P&a

as roger stated earlier to get a good S5 it would cost more or just get an used rs4 when the new ones comes out, but they may be $$$

in the world of European cars, bmw is one of the more reliable choices. Probably only second to porsche.
To my knowledge, audi is one of the worse.

to back up my claim...

"BMW is actually the best of the Europeans, and nameplate for nameplate rates ahead of some of the domestic brands. The European stats are being dragged down by Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz, all with below average reliability."

Here is the most recent 2008 initial quality study by JD Power & Associates.

http://www.jdpower.com/corporate/new...df/2008063.pdf

Audi ranks #10

BMW ranks #21

And to think BMW was #3 in 2005...

good information, however initial quality is far less important than proven quality.

If something happened to the 8 my choices would be:

1) Used M3
2) IS350
2) G37 (or a used G35 and install FI)

nonsense, the 335i is faster than all those...

n54 engine in the 3 series makes peak torque (300ft/lbs) at 1300 rpm and holds it till 5000 rpm. People on the bimmer forum say they can easily shift from 1st to 5th when getting on the freeway.
