Irvine mazda uses 10w30 oil for our car

I had my first oil change in Irvine mazda, but they put 10w30 oil in my 8. (on the receipt)

I guess I must use 5w20, so what's the deal?

Is it okay to use it?

It's ok, but next time bring it up to them and say SPECIFICALLY it should be 5w20... and if anything goes wrong with your transmission, it'll be THEIR fault.

I have two quarts of 5w20 in my trunk.(just in case)

5w20 + 10w30 = bad idea?

Did you ask them what they put in?
Some dealerships computers print 10w30 no-matter what the tech uses.

My dealership (Independence Mazda) swears up and down that mazda doesn't want them using 5W-20 oil in thr RX-8's anymore. My last oil change they used 10w30 and I'm still fighting them to change this. If anyone has access to a 2005 owners manual, I'm curious if the oil requirements have changed.

I live over in Phx AZ and I just had mine changed yesterday it was 5w-20. If you are that curious id call a few mazda dealerships up and ask them. If only one says 10w-30 and the other (2-3) say 5w-20 then you know not to take your car to a place anymore that does wrong work.

wasn't there a long thread around here that said 10w30 wasn't bad? I mean, people use synthetics now, and that's not bad either.

Speaking of motor oils... here's one FREE after rebate...

It doesnt matter.

Most rotorheads are going to run 10/40 or 20/50.

And that's about all I am going to say.

I take my car to Irvine for service. I really don't GAF whether it's 5-20 or 10-30. Then again, I won't have the car once the warranty expires.

I've had few problems with Irvine. And I liked Ali (who sold me my 8-though no real selling on his part was required)...a funny, nice guy.
