Saw two 8's yesterday - a Sunlight silver (stock) exiting the 405 on (i think) McArthur...i tried to wave but almost got clipped by a neon so i kept both hands in the vehicle to flip him off...

also almost LITERALLY ran into a VR 8 on the 55 north ...looked like an older lady on her cell . i tried to wave but you almost hit me so no props for you

yesterday (Wed) around 7:00PM or so... i think it was some asian dude wearing huge sunglasses- ie those kind that almost cover your face. oh, and he was picking his nose too... HAHAHAHAHAHA. i didn't get a chance to take a pix. but, ok. fess up, man. we know you're on this board.

Saw a silver RX-8 on Wed. 06-27-07 at approximately 6:30 pm. Driven by an asian male with large glasses in his mid 50's. He was on the 405 South and exited on Artesia.

Spotted a sunlight silver sitting at the light on West going north towards Downtown disney at around 6:00pm - had strakes just like mine but with an OEM wing - i think it was a white guy driving (?) couldn't tell - if you weren't my bad...i could only glance and wave while i was turning...

so i got my car back yesterday

i been seeing a lot of 8's this past month (when i didnt have my car) so now i hope to see a few of you again....

im a black 8, black wheels, black tint, MS bumper and turbo :D

if im driving slow, its cuz im breaking in the new motor.

Theres a HUGE BBQ/ Drinks meet (Evo's and Subbies mainly) over in Santa Clarita tonight, me and my buddy in his 8 are gonna show up. Im close friends with all of them so feel free to come by and meet other people and me :D.

its super smooth now though, no more detonation/ pinging :D
my seals went bad so i was getting those replaced....
and while the motor was open, they saw small grooves in the housings, so i had them replace those... one of my rotars was bad, so i had them replace both. (they sell everything in sets of 2) so i got the seals, rotars, housings, lines, gaskets, everything replaced... i figured they should just port it while it was open, but decided not to last min.
she idles so smooth. sounds like butter.

How many miles were on your motor that got rebuilt?

What were the symptoms of the problem?

Was anything covered by warranty?

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

i had about..... close to 40k.
the problems were:

I had a turbo with a wide open exhaust, and no boost controller. So it would sometimes WAY over boost.
Mistake #1 would have to be, i didnt tune on time.
um.... if i would accelerate slowly it would be ok, but if i would smash the pedal, at about 6k or higher, i would hear a beer crushing can sound (Marbles in a can)
which could have been either/ or detonation or pinging (maybe both).

Note: I think i had this problem since before the turbo

after a few months, when driving hard, the car would start to sputter on me....
sputter sputter sputter, like once a week... then 4 times a week.... then almost every day...

almost as if the fuel was being cut, then started then cut like 4 times in a row.
(I later found out that my spark plugs were bad)
and then one day...

I was driving, and my car just sputtered hard and lost all power, i could litterally smash it, and my boost would go up, and i would hear it spool, but my car was going nowhere.
i had a top speed of like 15mph.

got that checked out...
saw i lost compressiono...

seals had gone bad...

so long story short: to replace seals, you need to open motor up.
once the motor was open, they found grooves in the housings, bad rotar.. bad plugs, so on...

i said, F IT!
replace it all.

got a full rebuild done over something i could have just fixed with good plugs, a nice (Early) tune, and a boost controller...

eh, we live, we learn

oh, By the way, i saw a Yellow 8 yesterday on the.... 710 FWY? I didnt really know that area, but he had stickers all on the side of his car, i think one of the stickers said Honda.
but anyway, he was way ricey, haha.

Yellow RX-8 with lots of stickers usually tells me it's Speeddemon's car but his only comes out of the garage to make its way to the Fontana Speedway...
(couldn't have been him)


I saw a VR on Foothill in Rancho Cucamonga today. I was over at Computer Network, looked out the window and saw you ZOOM ZOOM down the street.
(my RX-8 was in the parking lot)

Saw a basic black 8 parked near the intersections of Marine, Pacific & Ardmore in Manhattan Beach on Sat. 06-30-07 at 3:30 pm.

Saw a galaxy gray 8 with 2 asian males in it on Sat. 06-30-07 around 5:45 pm on Manchester near Lincoln Blvd. Only a few blocks from LMU's campus. They were looking at me and I was looking at them but nothing was said but a half hearted attempt at a head nod.

That IS a crazy intersection. Just left Big Wok Mongolian BBQ in MB and was heading to the 76 gas station on Marine & Highland. It's one of the cheaper places in the area for 91 octane. I have NO upgrades on my 8 yet, but MS exhaust will be 1st.
