Galpin Mazda, RX8club.com, and calling out

As anyone had there posts from the forum read by your servicing dealer?

Seems Galpin Mazda in Santa Clarita, Ca is reading the posts and confronting owners about negative posts.

It has not happened to me but others on the board. I stopped going there based on them just being a crappy dealer.

For you review...

I just read that long story about Erin's encounter with Galpin (BTW, I'm no where near the west coast, much less Santa Clarita). Not to take the dealer's side (I certainly am no fan of car salesmen, although I've fortunately had good encounters with my dealer), but I think I read somewhere that the dealer may take your car for a 30-mile test drive to diagnose certain problems. I could be totally delusional, but I really thought I saw that printed somewhere. Similar thing happened to me, where I took my 8 in for minor problems and came back with probably 30 more miles on my car. It bothered me at the time, but my dealer gave me a free fill-up of gas, so I didn't care about it in the end.

to perform the TSB on the oil level sensor u have to drive the car as long as u have to to duplicate the concern. that article is old. i know the guy that was the adviser he lives in this valley. that tsb apparently didnt even apply to her car. she wasnt in the vin range.

who cares if the article is old? does that make it less true? she didnt have a problem with them driving the car the problem was with them not informing her they would do so and not calling her but her having to call back 3 hours later to find out what was going on. also during one call they told her the oil change tire rotation and airbag recall had been done but not the sensor. why would the service advisor let the tech do AN OIL CHANGE before the sensor fix when the sensor is IN THE OIL PAN! "hey lets change the oil now and then 3 hours from now we'll switch the oil pans." what sense does that make? and i bet the charged her for the extra oil they ended up using as well.

she got bad service and wrote about it. they should be trying to better their service deptartment instead of having you come on here to defend them against the article.

so what did he do about that? here he had a car at his service center with the exact problem covered in the TSB but she was outside the vin range specified. did he inform mazda that maybe they needed to take a second look at the vin range? that maybe there were more cars out there with the problem then they realized? since the tsb was never updated to my knowledge i guess he didnt bother to do that.

I wish my dealerships would check this site once and a while. Maybe then they would see what people go through and how much BS they have given me!

LOL there are some guys at my Mazda dealer who read some of the stuff on RX8Club.com, sorry to hear that Galpin sucks, I always see their ads in magazines and they make some pretty cool-looking cars.

I didn't read the issue from the first post but I'm sure it will ba a rant. If the dealer treated a customer incorrectly....slam away.
I've even had a few posts on other forums.." I told them this and I told them that" etc while in reality it was me they where talking to and the conversation wasn't even close to what the member posted.

Lets put this into a different perspective. What do you do for a living?

My question would be this...If you had to read everyday, what every person you interacted with thought of you...

What would it say?

I'm not saying the dealer is right or wrong in this situation.

Find a good dealer and stick to them. Let them know you are on the forums and I know they will learn issues and corrections before you even have to call them. After all nobody wants to NOT fix your car.

Just my observation

Slam away.

It's not the Van Nuys Galpin though, it's the SCV one... that's one of their new dealerships. :P

I don't mind the service at VNG... don't know how bad SCV is.

My apologies, and I agree. It's not the dealers making the decisions (at least in my case). They are just doing what they get paid for.

I don't think apologies are in order..

I'm no fan of the way you got treated either.

I was just commenting on Galpin telling the customers they read the forums and they handled it completely backwards of what I would have done..

Why not really "WOW" the customer this time in and let them post what a change there was?
If they are on here they know all the issues..why not have the corrections ready when someone walks in the door.?

IMHO

Well I know for a fact that Browning Mazda in Cerritos reads these forums daily, they even post on them too. but Browning works with the RX8 club memebers not against them, they even give a discount to RX8 club members on parts and labor. Browning is the only dealer i go to!! :D

yeah we give 15% off parts and labor for all RX8 club members, both in service and over the counter parts.
