Front license plate

I live in a state that requires a front license plate on every car. I don't know about your state's plates, but a California plate sure uglifies the front of an RX-8 in a hurry. Is there a front license plate frame anyone can recommend that makes it look a little less hideous? Or should I just remove the front plate and take my chances with the cops?

I take my chances. I have had it off with all my other cars to and only 1 ticket in about 5 years. But many speading tickets. But in CA I hear the cops are very picky.

I had no front plates on my cars for 11 years in California. The previous car (Ford Probe GT) looked equally bad with the front plate like the RX-8. Had no front plate on it from day one until I sold it earlier this year.
I have no front plate on the RX-8 either.
So far, I didn't even have a single ticket for this - I'm wonder how long this streak will last

I am going without front plate for 5 months without problem in California. I have black powdercoat frame waiting just in case. About 1 1/2 years ago I got pulled over for speeding in my Cobra Mustang without front plate and got written for speeding but nothing was mentioned about front plate. However the Cop did not walk to the front of my car.

I too want too take the plate off badly...I am workingwith some other people in my state to change the statutes regarding having a front plate (there are many other reasons why then just it is ugly, ie airflow, cost, etc) I live in Minnesota

On my last car, I had no front plate until I got a fix-it ticket while parked at a meter on Colombus Street in North Beach in SF. The meter wasn't expired but I guess someone was having a bad day.

I haven't gotten my new plates yet for my 8 but I plan to have the front plate at the ready should I have to show to the police station that I've "fixed it" in response to another ticket.

No way am I leaving the front plate on on the 8, it looks to be very ugly...

Yes I agree, the front plate definitely takes away from the car. I took mines off as soon as I got home. Now that I think about it I dont even know if a front plate is required in CT. does any one know?

I've never had a front license plate in my 16 years of driving on any of my cars. I've never gotten a ticket for it (even when I got a ticket for other things)...

THANK GOD I'M IN NORTH CAROLINA!!! No need for front license plate. It looks really cool with just the grill.

It's all about the luck of the draw, what meter maid you run into, what cop pulls you over, what YOUR reaction is to getting pulled over, where you were pulled over/parked, etc...

If you live/visit the Pasadena or Beverly Hills area, I would strongly recommend you forego your 'looks' better for avoiding a 'potential' police enforcement. These two areas are very nit picky and there is no need to draw more attention to yourself.
