Arg. Got into an accident last night. RX-8's front left met a right rear of another car. So there is bumper cover damage, left fender is bent, and left HID lamp is broken.

First estimate from North Ranch Bodycraft & Glass in Thousand Oaks is $2269.48. The HID alone is $432.

I'll be getting another estimate from Apex down in Huntington Beach tomorrow.

I feel so stuuuuupid getting into this accident. Entirely avoidable if I was more patient or made a sharper turn while trying to avoid the accident. Full ABS activation, car was responsive to steering inputs, if I only turned the steering wheel sharper.... ARG!!!

I'm in the same situation. I'm in the HB area and my insurance company told me to go to Continental AutoBody on Beach and Ellis. They quoted me about $2800 and so far service has been excellent.

 

I ended up leaving the car at Apex Autobody. I was supposed to pick it up Friday (March 12, 2004), a day before rev it up, but they called me in afternoon claiming that Mazda botched an order on a bracket so I was supposed to pick it up Saturday. They claimed that Mazda bothed it again. So now I'm not too sure when I will pick it up.

 

Doh.... $432 for the HID alone... makes me want to cry.

Note: to self... DO NOT DAMAGE either HID.
