I disagree. If the monthly event is only meets and greets then interest will quickly fade. There have to be other reasons to gather than "simply" saying hello to the same set of faces.

I suggested mini-lectures so people who wanted to share could do so without feeling the pressure to conduct a more formal event and/or come up with extra material to fill the time. Example: murix could talk about his experiences installing the Racing Beat exhaust, or mrtux could describe what installing the MazdaSpeed side skirts is like. I don't see either topic going more than 15 minutes. On the other hand there are some topics like becoming a better driver that could fill hours, but trying to cover that much material in one go means information overload. Breaking it down into smaller segments also gives a continuing reason for people to attend.

You can also do "off-site" events like a group outing to Le Mans karting. But that's another topic.

So what do you guys think of a NorCal-SoCal BBQ meet up this summer? Considereing most of us have time that can be taken off from work and it is great weather. I think maybe a month or two ahead we could have this big meet. We can have plenty of room for all the cars that show up on Treasure Island in the Sf Bay, and we can also have car shops/tuners help out and advertize at the same time. Not my orginal idea but a good one borrowed from Team Integra. Are there enough members to do this?

Also if there is a big enough turn out perhaps 360 viedo could come and take video shots of our cars, this was the case on our meet from 6/8/2003. There were about 90-100 integs at the outing.

I was also taking pictures. I have the exhaust sound comparison, but I don't think we had a long enough ramp to really wind up the rotaries and heard the comparisons well.

 

On the way back from the meet, I spotted a Mopar gathering and this particular example of old-school, red-neck "rice" wing. And the color just made it even better.
