Talking CanZoomer stage 1 mod

.. It showed up today and is currently sitting on my desk. It's very much all I can do to stop myself from busting out to the parking lot and sticking it in right now.

I will post a followup after I've installed it and let you know how it all went.

Is there anyone else in San Diego that has ordered/installed this mod?

Simon.

I would be great if someone at sea-level could do a proper before and after dyno, to see if we can get over 200 rwhp.

If anyone has access to a dyno (and we can figure out how to effectively defeat the other control systems so that the car isn't going into limp mode) I'd be happy to oblige. I have 8500 miles on it so it's well broken in.

let me me know when, I like to witness a 200 hp pull on a dyno .
I'll give my buddy lughton a call over at Top flight Corvettes to see if he'll let my get a hold of a dyno for sferrett.

Installation was a snap, except I managed to accidentally toss out the little foam filters for the air ducting (d'oh!)... No worries I had some suitable substitute material floating around.

I havent put much driving on it yet, about 25 minutes - there is definately a noticeable difference in accelleration though, especially past 5k RPMs.

First start up was interesting as the idle hunted for the first couple of seconds, which is probably just things getting calibrated for the first start after a battery disconnect.

I think my butt-dyno is a little inaccurate due to the cushioning which protects it and keeps it warm during this inclement weather, however there's most definately a noticeable gain which starts at around 5k RPMs and another at around 7k. I would be very interested in doing some side-by-side tests with another '8 to get some kind of comparison, however it is an obviously noticeable increase in performance.

The on/off switch is a little bit of a pain to get to (you need to take the ecu cover off) so I didn't do any A/B tests myself (other than prior to installation and after installation).

I'm quite keen to get it on a dyno and see what the numbers say, but certainly is a quite noticeable improvement over stock even with my numb *** taking the measurements.

Simon.

Yes there's an on/off switch. You need to open the ECU compartment cover to access it.

Any updates on how your are liking the stage I. Further comments now that you've had it in for a little while?

So far so good - I have not noticed any appreciable change in gas mileage (only third fill up since putting it in) but it doesn't seem worse than before (I typically get 17-18MPG).

I haven't gone on any "fun" runs since installing it though (and I've been out of town a bit in the last couple of weeks), although around town it's definatlely more peppy than before, especially if you're a high-revver.

No complaints and I am still eager to get it on a dyno if such an opportunity arises.

Cheers,
Simon.

do you have an exhaust yet simon? I have a rotoflow muffler that would work nicely on your car.

Hehe - no exhaust yet.. however I am a sucker when it comes to that stuff...

I can test it out for you if you're looking for some on-the-road testing!

BTW: I went to Burbank and back last night and clocked up 275 miles on the odo before the low-fuel light came on. That's a new record for me, usually I get 210-220 when the light comes on. I think extended freeway driving makes a big difference to gas mileage.

Just a note, I've had my Stage one for over a month and actually LOST gas mileage.....................Just can't stay out of the pedal and drive the Auto Bahn almost daily :0)

Seriously though, it's a really nice change and hopefully you'll be as pleased with it as I am. My Borla SHOULD be here next week so I'll update on how that feels too.

Cheers!
