+1 for used tires if you're in a pinch for money.

Anyone in Bay Area has Metra Axxess USB-CAB for updating Metra radio replacement kit?

May I borrow or rent it?
I'm soooooo annoyed by the clock issue.

If non of us have any, does anyone want to use it?
I might one and then we could share it.

Bah. Removing the ECU cover is a pain in the ***. Any advice for getting the 2 plastic clips off the case so i can pop the cover off to install my parking lights? I did the drivers side but couldn't get at the passengers so now it looks like my 8 has a black eye or something. Ones nice and white, the other light is ugly incandescent yellow

what i did to get mine off was using a flat head or a needle nose. those are the only way i can think of.

hahahaha, no pics yet, but I promise, after my grinding, bondo, primer session this weekend I will take some.

DJ, its really good to hear from you, havent heard from you in quite some time. Get home safe. We'll have a big turn out for your first meet back in the states.

About the supra...

the body is a bit rough/rusty, mostly around the hatch, which is typical for MKII supras, but definitely fixable, or atleast patchable so the hatch wont leak. Few surface rust area's here and there but nothing major.

The best part about it is the mileage, the car basically sat outside with a car cover on it for a number of years, it has 92K original miles, the interior is proof, the dash is clean, not warped or cracked, the driver and passenger seats still feel like new, with almost no wear and no rips or tears, there is one very small tear in the rear driver side seat but it must have been from something that got set on the seat because the seat is not worn at all.

I need to get some floor mats as the floor carpet on the driver side is pretty worn, which is typical on these cars.

Needs some stuff, windshield is cracked on the passenger side, clean the engine area up, mostly dusty/dirty no grease or oil, needs new belts, windshield wipers, Might need new U joints or a new central bearing, yes the drive shaft is so long its in two pieces with a centralizing bearing, there is a one piece aluminum solution but its 500 bucks, but the worn U joints are also typical, even with low miles, the car has more torque than horsepower so it really takes its toll on the lesser engineered parts.

It has the infamous W58 transmission, which is bullet proof, people have used this trans, reliably, to mid 500 horses with no issue. Better than, but very comparable to a turbo FC trans.

5MGE inline 6 engine, 150hp 159lbs tq, sounds like a beast, rips through tires, 14x7" rims, lol. But it does have a new clutch, which feels awesome. The kid I bought the car from got the car from a relative that moved back to mexico, the car has basically sat for a few years, the kid wanted to do something with it but already had an FC and didnt have anywhere to keep the supra. He provided all of the right paperwork, title, registration, transfer, smog cert from 2/08/09.

Lastly, it looks like a beater, but its effing reliable, I took it home tuesday, in rush hour traffic from south city, no issues, no over heating, no failed electronics, nothing, AND I was in pouring *** rain. I have been driving it to work, I drove it to school on wednesday, I drove it in the backroads to orinda and back today. Very reliable. All this reliability for 900 bucks, I cant complain, I'm really happy to have a supra again, it hurt to get rid of the last one I had.

But the best part is, I DONT HAVE TO DRIVE MY EFFING RX8 TO WORK ANYMORE! work has been tearing my car up, which has been pissing me off. I can now leave it safe and squeaky clean in my car port with the car cover on and drive it on the weekends.

I will mostly likely drive it out next week for the meet, if there are people interested in seeing it.
