Plus it takes a lot of gas savings to make up the $700 you just spent on your gas saving mod.

No, just imagine you didn't spend $600 on an exhaust to get you 2 hp, and didn't spend $400 on an intake to get you 2 hp. The AP can give you gains larger than both combined. Plus it is a CEL reader/resetter (those usually run $100-200 range). You also get the benefits of increase OMP flow rates, lower radiator fan turn on temps, and you'll see it's one of the best deals going for the car.

But if all of the above is worthless to you, then yes, $700 would take a long *** time to recoup if this was strictly a fuel mod. But then again, you'd have to be pretty dense to not know the RX-8 isn't a fuel efficient vehicle to begin with

you do realize the topic of this thread is about how to improve gas mileage, right?

Uhh, never once did I debate that. Gas mileage flashes are nothing new. The domestics of all kinds have had this for many years. Since like the mid 90's.

But do you realize how much better your gas mileage would have to get on a consistent basis to offset the cost of the unit @ $700??

Spending money to get better gas mileage is generally an exercise in futility.

I haven't really made a formal introduction yet. Just sort of butted in with knowledge on wheels and stuff. I guess can come off as overly critical, but I really do have a strong passion for cars.

I do have pictures of the car, but I don't like to share them when they are of a stock 8, everyone has seen one before. Most people won't like the direction I build this car anyways, but I'll have my wheels, suspension, and some other things on for sevenstock.

Actually with my AccessPort I get those numbers now, and that is not using the fuel economy map but the Cobb Stage 1 map that came out of the box. With added HP! Just my .02.

I got 16.7 mpg on my last fill up. But that was letting people drive it, and they were reving it. Might be able to get 17-18 on this fill up
