Angry from bad to best - Galpin Steps up **UPDATE**

I dropped the car off on Tuesday afternoon for the 30k, tire talk and to get my dealer installed dent fixed.

I was expecting Jayson to be rather unpleasent but I was suprised by his helpfulness and willing to do whatever it takes to get it done.

He said I could go a few 1000 miles more on the tires so I passed on getting them this time.

He said I could have the car back on Thursday. He even offered a rental car. I WAS FLOORED! I could not believe that this was the same Galpin Mazda. I declined. Since the rain stopped I thought I would take the f-car to work.

I picked it up tonight. I was suprised that the 30k was only $280. They changed my cabin air filter and coolant. My dent was gone. It does not even look like there was one.

I am very, very, very happy with Jayson and Galpin.

I am going to call the service manager tomorrow to thank him and to give Jayson a thumps up.

I saw your car there on Tuesday afternoon when I dropped it off. I was going to ask if you wanted to swap the exhaust while my car was there but my ride showed before I could page you.

I am working on the Ferrari this weekend. Drop me a line and we can do the swap then. Or you could just listen for loud cursing and follow it to my house

I hope the trend continues. I left a message on the Service Managers VM thanking him and Jayson for a job well done.

Enjoy yours!

I have Sunday all day off, but I'm at work right now until about 6. Let me know your address via pm, and I could be there anytime on sunday, or tonight.

Edit: Or call me when you when you are ready. You have my number, but I don't have yours.

Wow.

What was wrong RX8CaliGirl?

I'm sure if one of us on the forum could find a way to help, we would, needing a ride or whatever.

Samsonite...Flooded???...That sucks, did you take your car to Galpin again to have it fixed?

Yes. I just picked it up.

I talked to Jayson about the Borla and he said to talk to him about it. I am getting too old to climb under cars. He was going to check to see if a teck there can change it for us. I can be by anytime after 3:30 usually.

I did not forget. Just WAY to busy.

I didn't think you forgot, you had told me you were busy. It's ok.

Uhm, today works great, around 5?

The tech, Tony, gets off at 5 and could do it then.
Oh, and he said he'd do it for like $40.

Hey guys & gal:
I'm new to this forum. But I'm familar with Mazda - my wife had 2 Miatas and I had an original 1980 RX-7 (in 1980 but we won't go there). I'm also familar with Galpin, though it's the Jag part I know. I bougjht an XJS there some years back and my wife takes her XK-8 there for service. So the question is -- is their service bad? Is it worse than Star or anyone else?
Also, since we're all in SoCal, I'm curious if your collective experience with the RX-8 is less than favorable. I'm currently driving a MINI Copper S, and I really enjoy it, but I've had my eye on an Rx-8 ever since I convinced my wife tor drive one when she was looking for a Miata replacement.
I love my MINI, but I do miss the fullsome power and track capabilities of a real sportscar. Your feedback would be very helpful. Thanks.

Most of my issues have been dealer related but I appears that it has been resolved. The 8 has had minor issues that I guess can be chalked up to a 1 year production run. Galpin as a sales dealer is fine. Service is getting a lot better.

Thanks Bane for the exhaust swap. I was suprised on how quite the ride was this morning. The Borla was LOUD.

Thanks again for picking up the car and dropping it off.

Enjoy the Borla! Judging from the way you drove off from my house, it sounds like that will not be an issue

now, GET ON THE ROAD AND DRIVE!

That was only 6000 rpm.....I wasn't gonna run YOUR car like I do mine!

Although I must say, it was fun!

and again, thank you Samsonite for letting me take your borla off of your hands, I love it.

I think we're all just having service-related problems.

I think Galpin Mazda in Van Nuys is the best service and I have heard good things about Cerritos Mazda (not sure if that's Galpin or Star). If you can find ONE dealer that is accessible and honest and will take car of your car, you'll be set. But otherwise, you might just be pounding your head like me and Samsonite.

Well the car flooded again Friday night and was a hard start today. Friday I drove the car from Valencia to Sherman oaks and parked it for 15 minutes. It failed to start and I had to do the gas pedal thing. Today I drove it from Valencia to Beverly Hills and it was parked for 45 minutes and it took two cranks to fire. It never had problems until the last flash. Also everytime if fires up it smells like gas. It's going back to the shop on Tuesday.
