If anyone has a few minutes, Id appreciate it if someone can come check out the car and help me out. The dealership service department is closed till tomorrow, and I need the car today. Somebody please give me a call and try to drop by. It would be greatly appreciated. If we can get the car started, well go to brunch, on me. Thanks

It doesn't sound like a flooded engine.

It sounds like a battery issue.

Get a neighbor or buddy to give you a jump ASAP.

I guess the biggest flaw in your plan is not going to the regional forums and making actual friends in your area. Perhaps you can go there now and plead your case.

Good thing they're using a ramp style tow lift.. I guess this must be your first flooding. Do you remember shutting the engine off cold, or not completely warmed up, last? Also, maybe you'll find out in the morning, but is the dealership going to upgrade your battery, starter, and plugs (if you don't have the upgraded battery/starter yet)?? ... may also be good to ask them to check out the catalytic converter.

You dont need to make "Friends" its up to people if they want to help or not. The guy sounds pressed for time. Thing is its a Sunday and its like Mugatu said...
He's got no ops but to wait till Monday. Too bad.

You're right, I should have flown in to California and helped this guy out. He's been on the site long enough that he could have met someone from the site in RL, and it's a lot easier to get actual help from someone in your own area. What should I have done? Called him and told him to read the de-flooding procedure that was posted in this thread?

hey.. yea i specifically asked for a flat bed.. and they didnt have any, so they had to re route the driver.. but its cool.. took like 55 minutes to get to my house.. guy was awesome, he knew his ****, and he knew alot about the rx8s.. good guy.. drove to galpin mazda, dropped off the beast, got a loaner mazda6. they called me this morning before 8:00 AM.. told me that its most likely a flooding issue , so they r gona fix it and what not.. also gona upgrade to new battery, starter, and spark plugs free of charge. on top of that, a free ECU flash (its never been flashed before).. also, oil/filter change ($30) and 10k miles service ($65) and a courtesy car wash.. not sure when they will finish, but it doesnt matter. as long as they do a fine job. im gona call em later and ask to check the catalyic converter. other than that, im at 10,103 miles, car is in tip-top shape, never had any problems, getting about 21 mpg (and i do not drive like a granny), transmission has no grinds or anything, its all good

oh and yes this is my FIRST flooding. the day before i started the car, backed it up about 5 feet to make some room in the driveway , and shut it down . so its my fault.

and as far as making "friends" in the regional section... i dont have very much time on my hands, i work almost 60 hours a week.. up over at nissanclub.com people offered to go check out for sale cars for me when i was interested in the 350z. further, people offered to install lowering springs on the car, free of charge. i barely knew anyone. great community website

hmmm, 49,000 miles and never once had a problem with flooding or cold start. I guess it makes a difference to have it garaged over night.

i started the car by depressing both clutch and gas at the same time...hell of a lotta smoke!! hahaha My car is always garaged, and only driven a couple times a week, prior to driving the car i always let it warm up 3-5 mins...who the heck knows what happened!

Snowfl8k flooded her car last week. Had to have it towed. Mazda replaced the spark plugs.

here is an update for me:
when i was driving home after picking up the car from the dealership, i noticed if i had the car in 3rd or 4th gear, at low speeds like 30mph, and when i wanted to accelerate, the car would stutter.. almost like there was too much air, or more air than fuel. I thought it might be bad gas and i should drive a tank or 2. i also thought maybe since the flashed the ecu, it had to get used to my driving.. who knows

so about 2 weeks passed by, and 4 tanks of gas.. and the problem still persisted.. even in the freeway in 6th gear going 75, when you gassed it, it stuttered. so i took it to the dealership, explain what happened. they reflashed the ecu again, and changed out the spark plugs to even hotter ones, and now im fine.. and now i have 11k miles.
