Anyone in San Jose area have the MS kit installed. If so, where and how much?

I just bought my 8 and I want to get the Mazdaspeed bumper, spoiler, etc installed. The dealership I bought the car from wants $1000 to install it. Anyone got a better place to go?

Alternatively, has anyone installed the parts themselves and would like to discuss the ins and outs. Maybe you could even help me in exchange for tasty beer :D

Thanks,

Eric

hmm, 1000 dollars isn't worth. Seriously do a search, you can get this done and save a lot of money by just asking a local forum member.

Hey man, I am in San Jose/Los Gatos too and I'm looking to pickup the Mazdaspeed kit, but I think I might want to get the MS Style kit because, well I don't think I can afford the real Mazdaspeed kit, almost $2000 for it is a lot, plus the amount needed to install it.

The MS Style kit is around $760, but then you need to get it painted and I have no idea how much that will cost, and then you can probably bring the parts to a Mazda dealership and they'll install it. Even if it is $1000 for labor, it will still be a way cheaper option than the real Mazdaspeed kit and have the same appearance.

Let me know what you do and some of the quotes you are getting from around here. Good luck!

You're just installing the front bumper and rear spoiler? That is hardly worth paying $1000 for. Its pretty easy to install really. Just read the instructions that come with it. Hell, if you want to throw your money away and have someone else do it, I'll do it for a cool $300 (=0P. But seriously, save your money and do it yourself. You'll learn a lot about your car when you take it apart.

I am getting the sideskirts and rear bumper too. You have to do some cutting of the stock bumper to install the MS rear bumper. That's the part I'm worried about doing on my own. I think I can handle the front bumper and spoiler NP.

Well, I definately found out that it can be done for cheaper. I called another dealer and they quoted me $600 to $720 depending on how long it takes them to line things up.

I've been getting a lot of responses saying that it's fairly easy to do myself. I may just go that route....

do it yourself is the route to go. the guys that would be installing the parts at your mazda dealer would probably be installing those parts for the first time too.

save that money and get some springs/shocks/sways

Just curious, how long(hours) do you think it can be installed in.The bodyshop I use quoted me about $750 for labor but I'm sure I can get it down a bit.

If you go slow and careful it may take you an hour to install each. After the first install you could probably cut the time in half. Check out the "MazdaSpeed body parts" link on my website.
