Tucson noob checking in-

Chamberlin

2005 Titanium Gray 6speed

I met a couple of RCCAZ guys at NOPI this year (Shawn???) but I was there with the Scion crew (I had the only red tC RS 1.0 there). Well I just traded the Scion in for a '05 Titanium last friday. It was apparently an early '05 model with 29K on it, but I got a pretty good deal all around. My buddy at work (John Yamasaki who is at Buttonwillow right now) got me into the rotary a while back, and I'm glad I have my own RX-8 now.

Thanks guys- I am down for a get together.... I will get Yamasaki on here too... he has like 5 1st gen RX-7s , '93 turbo, and the white RX-8 which is at Buttonwillow now.

I'd like to get a hold of Shawn if possible, since we did end up playing with his car PC for about an hour at NOPI.... He'd probably find it interesting I am now a rotorhead!

HAHA! man it's crazy how urban lingo gets around...

Your red whip looks damn nice though...
It's wierd for me that I just got rid of the red tC and now I am with a more conservative color like Ti. This is supposed to be my mid-life crisis car dammit!

I met John last weekend in Buttonwillow, very nice guy. He passed us (yes HE passed US...I know) on I-5 around LA on the way out Saturday. I told him about this site, you may want to remind him

I am sure we'll be chatting all about it at work tomorrow!
I think I heard that our other work buddy (a Supra guy) drove John's '93 red RX-7 turbo out there too to race....did you see them both caravaning back home to Tucson?

Ahh OK- I just got done looking through all the Buttonwillow pics, and I did see both of John's cars there.... the red RX-7 has his extra set of RX-8 wheels on it BTW, so it is kinda hard to miss that one!

It depends, the Rx-8 handles a little better. And believe it or not it's way more reliable. Has A/C and a radio which is always a +.

But as far a the general fun to drive factor... the 7 wins hands down. A little scary at times but overall a blast.

I love my [3] and all that power is a definite blast on a track, but there's no way to really enjoy all it can do and stay legal on the street. I had to sell my 1985 GSL-SE for a Saturn because I needed something more reliable for the daily commute. I bought the 8 because it was the first test drive in 20 years that gave me the same kind of eager-puppy feeling I got from my beloved 1985. The Saturn's fine for my teenage daughter.
