Espeler spring SUPER SALE! UPDATED!
So one day I'm here at work wondering why more people haven't put these springs on thier cars when it his me....there needs to be a sale on them to give forum members an insentive to get them. So here's the deal, I've got 10 sets of the Espelir GT springs in stock. The SALE price is $160 shipped! We have successfully installed these on a few cars and the final out come is awsome. "Esperlir GT Racing springs install & Review
I have recently installed the Espelir GT racing springs in my Black 2004 Mazda RX-8. I have made a few notes regarding the installation of this product as well as my thoughts on the performance and quality.
Intallation -
The installation was fairly straighforward. Overall the install took about one hour and fifteen minutes. This was of course the first time myself or my brother (who did most of the install) had ever taken apart any components on the new RX-8 and so it was a bit of learning experience. The time it took to do the install would have been significantly reduced had we known a few tips that would have cut our time down to perhaps forty to forty-five minutes. Please note that this job is noteably easier with two people for certain portions, specifically the rear spring reinstallation.
Tools you may find helpful for the job will include a spring compressor, a complete set of sockets and ratchets, (air tools if you are lucky) and of course a way to lift the car up. You will also need a good sized prybar and perhaps a heavy hammer for removing the rear shock absorber from the suspension.
The rear spring removal was the most difficult and time consuming part of the entire project. Inside the trunk, you will need to remove the carpeted panels on either side to access the bolts holding the top of the strut assembly. Of course you should always remove the tires first <grin>. Next you will need to remove the sway bar attachement and the bolt holding the shock absorber on to the suspension assembly. Once you have done this you will need to remove the shock absorber. This is the part that requires the use of the prybar.
TIP - Push down on the rear trailing arm while lifting up on the caliper / suspension assembly to allow the strut/shock to slide out at a slight angle. It goes back in pretty much the same way but requires a little more leverage.
The front spring removal was so easy it wasn't even funny. (once we figured out what to do.) First you need to remove the swaybar bolts, next you will need to remove the strut tower brace that goes over the engine. After that remove the bolts holding the strut assembly at the top of the strut tower.
TIP - Finally remove the two bolts holding the TOP 'A' Arm of the suspension assembly. This should allow the entire suspension to shift down and facilitate easy removal of the strut / shock. After we did this we deciced it would only take about five minutes tops to remove the front springs.
After Installation thoughts -
Immediately after the install, there was a significant improvement in the handling performance of the car. Here are the general improvements and comparisons that I noted.
1) There was significantly reduced body roll.
2) Far less 'squat' during acceleration and decceleration.
3) Sharper feeling in the overall handling.
4) More stability on hard cornering.
5) Lower center of gravity is noticable during high speed driving and cornering.
The ride quality of course was something I was concerned with as this is a daily-driver and my wife often takes the car to work. I noticed that the car rode almost as smooth as stock on almost all roads, although you will really feel the big bumps if the road is very rough. The clincher for this was that after installing the springs, my wife couldn't tell a difference in how smooth the ride was. She also doesn't drive to fast or hard and so it's likely if wouldn't have said I put springs in she would never have even noticed!
The car appears to have settled about one and one-quarter inches all around. I am also extremely pleased that there appears to be no rear 'sag' as you will sometimes see with lowering springs. The appearance of the car is much more aggressive with this much lowering but it still clears speedbumps. It took the springs about four days and three hundred miles of driving before they finally settled all the way.
In closing, I am completely pleased with this product. I would highly recommend it to any RX-8 owner considering a suspension upgrade for performance or appearance!!"

I got your PM, yes, you can get both sets at the same time. The RX8 springs are discounted as far as they can be but the STI springs I have the Tein S-Techs and H-Techs instock. Check your PMs.
