TheTexas8 Website is Moving!
Hey guys,
So The DFW crew has decided to have an official name and website. We've choosen NTXRotary. I've bought the new domain name to start a website.
However, as most of you know websites aren't free. It is because of this that I will be changing the hosting for TheTexas8 to instead host NTXRotary. The texas8 site will still exist as part of NTXRotary however.
So for example www.ntxrotary.com/thetexas8 or something like that. It will be a completely seperate site under the NTXRotary name.
But to make this change I need to bring the website down etc to facilitate the move.
For all of you State Meet fans there will be another meet in the future. This is just a measure for me to cut costs while still maintaining two websites.
If you have any questions please me know!

I know that it is just a name and that we do welcome anyone who wants to come out, but why call it the North Texas Rotary whatever.
maybe I am missing the whole point of this website... what are you trying to set it up for anyway?? is it for the 3 sisters meet, or just another website/forum thing? Please explain

Well I guess I missed the memo on that one. I know that it stands for North Texas Rotary, but why limit it to North Texas?? What about Austin, Huston, Lubbock, El Paso, and even surrounding states?? I thought the long term idea of the 3 sisters meet was getting a larger group not just limit it to north texas, not just limited to texas, heck not limited at all. The more states support & attend the larger our sponsorship and support will be.

NTXRotary is a name for our local DFW chapter or group if you will, so basically we will have our own website. Make sense?
EDIT: NTXRotary is actually quite fitting for us giving how far apart our member base is if you think about it.

Don't worry Scott, I wasn't there either.
And the way I read it is that the Texas 8 url will still be active, but will point to a subfolder within the NTXRotary website.
Of course, you could make it appear as if the texas8 visitors are still on the texas8 site with some server configuration along with DNS entries.

LOL, and when exactly was the last meet you came to!?
Basically my plan is this. www.thetexas8.com will redirect to www.ntxrotary.com/thetexas8.... as soon as I figure out how to have two websites on one host that is....

The cruise we went on that Scott (via Jordan) lead in McKinney. It's not for lack of want though.
And regarding the site, your provider should be able to configure the url to a subfolder so that if you go to www.thetexas8.com, the URL will remain the same for all appearances, however, you could also access it through www.ntxrotary.com/thetexas8. It's one of those things that *really* easy to do, but they'll likely charge you for.

Honestly, I think it would just be easier to either keep the two sites completely separate or just forward the domain www.thetexas8.com to the new address.
It's not a hard thing to do what Brandon is recommending, but it does make things a little more complicated when you try setting up links on the site.
Not real sure who you're using for hosting, but with my host, I can host unlimited number of domains and have unlimited bandwidth and space. I can also have as many mySQL databases as I want. It's about $8/month along with however much the domains cost.
If you want, I can setup a username on my host and I can just host the sites until we get everything actually setup and running.

I went with inmotion hosting. That is a good question though, I just assumed that you had to have more than one hosting account to have more than one website, I've sent them an email to see.

Ok, so I am a noob (which I suppose isn't surprising) my host does allow me to host multiple domains with one account, so I guess just disregard everything I said
