Personally I think street racing always has and always will happen regardless of weather or not forums provide a kills thread. Fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers alike have been draggin on the streets since the very beginning.

People die now from street racing and people died back then from it.....just like people die from track racing today just as they did back in the day.

So with that said does it make any sense to not have a kills thread? I guess what I'm trying to say is that racing on the streets happens regardless of wether or not there is a kills thread on this forum.....so why not let history be told?

because we americans don't like the truth.........its true

besides, seriously, if there was a cockroach on the road, I would swerve and try not to hit it, who knows, it might not be washed off my bodykit so easily, nothing like a black smear on my shiny silver 8!

i do apologize for singling you out!! i did not mean for it to come across that way i was just using the quote as an example!! i was not implying that you are stuck up
just that i have come to meet more and more 8 owners that think their cars are gods gift to the automotive world....nice cars yes, the best ever no, no car is the best at every thing!
i have finally driven my first 8 today though. a friend with a yellow 8 let me take his car for a spin and it was fun and very fast! i do like the 8 i dont want anyone to think i am hating on 8's at all!
but why cant we have a kills thread maturity aside...i know a few older people that still race their cars (45-50ish).....it is all about having fun with you car man!!
i do apologize for the "call out" and the fact you took offense to me "calling you out" oh and thank you for not banning me!!hehehehe!!

now on to the kills:
me: 1
squirrel: 0

hehehehe
happened today on my way to work!!

I don't know, maybe it's where I'm from, but I've never had any problem with 8 owners. All the people I've met up with have been incredibly friendly, mostly mature, car nuts who are very accommodating even to new members. We've had a few less than stellar members show up every now and again, but even they weren't too bad. Mostly just stupid.

In fact, the only owners (of any car) I've ever encountered who were standoffish, elitist, and generally unpleasant were 7 owners. Not all of them have been that way, but it seems that I keep getting disappointed whenever I see a nice 7 and try talking to the owner.

(Though, I would like to note, most of my negative experiences came from one particular meet and one particular group of owners...Though there are still a handful of others who come to mind)

street racing, puts others at great risk without their consent.

on the track, bystanders are there out of free will, they know what's going on, and it's a "safe" calculated risk. Track racing eliminates many of the unknown variables that make racing (in any form) potentially fatal.

There are far less none participants that have died in sanctioned racing in comparison to street racing.

So why provide a thread out there bragging about your total disregard for others lives?

^ thats why its called reckless, but dude.......I'm serious, like most of the time, the street racers die, other people, if you look at it, if they died too, mostly its because they cut in front of the street racers, idk never saw a guy that wasn't involved in a street race die because some fucktard crashed into him, yet.......that yet is very important

Personally I don't know about the whole 8 owners being snobbish. I don't even own an 8 yet but I have met and talked to several different rotary owners on numerous occasions. I have found them to be very good people who are incredibly kind to let a non rotary owner hang with them and drool over their cars.

Heck, at one meet I had mentioned in conversation with a few people, that I have never even sat in the driver's seat of an 8 before. From that comment one owner offered me the opportunity to sit in the driver's seat of her car. She was even kind enough to put the seat back so I could sit comfortably. If that's not being cool I don't know what is.

you could not be more right.......thats why I think they are retards........but if they want to.....go ahead, it doesn't "prove" anything, and they can't race with 1 car.......there must be 2, if both of them consent on racing, and ends up dying.......hahahah

Ok so let me get this straight......not ONE of you guys that opposes street racing EVER gets on the gas on the street??? You never go for a ride and just have the urge to lay into the throttle for a little? Well if so then concider yourself STREET RACING. Racing doesn't have to involve another car. Same same guy that pulls out in front of two street racers is the same guy that pulls out in front of the guy going too fast all by himself also. Seen it happen with my own eyes once.

I never said I don't street race.

I never said I oppose street racing.

Just said you can't come on here bragging about your "kills".

The rule has been here from day one.......you don't have to like it, just abide by it.

That's cool and I respect the rule. This was obviously brought up in the suggestions thread to have a discusssion about so I thought I would share my opinion on the subject.

It just seems there are a lot of people that claim they never race on the street but in reality I'm sure they are doing it without even realizing it. Street racing doesn't have to be in a straight line either.....it can be those set of twisties you come upon and speed up for....or taking the simlpe 90 degree turn at the intersection a little faster than normal. I know we are ALL guilty of that in our 8's!

Anyways, I'm not sure we should have a kills thread just for the fact that we wouldn't be killing much out there in a "straight line"......but maybe a "Killed By" thread would be more appropriate.

I redline my car daily and lay into the throttle.... however I'm in 1st gear and hit 7500 RPM at 45-50 mph ( patting self on back ) speed limit was 55 and never broke it!

That's my point though.....just because you are below the speed limit doesn't mean that you're not going to cause an accident. I just wintnessed a guy wreck his vette the a few weeks ago and he was going no more than 30 mph when he did it. Sometimes things go wrong with the car or road conditions aren't right when you think they are.....it's not always the driver who's at total fault. Imagine yourself pulling through 1st and just as you approach 7,500rpm you run through some loose gravel or sand with your DSC off.....that's enough to point your nose towards the sidewalk or on-coming traffic in a hurry.

^ where the hell is the speed limit still 55?.........I think CA should raise it to 75 right now, would help with the traffic jam, and hopefully get more cars off the road, and into the bodyshop

Personally...it's a matter of using common sense... if your paying attention to the road conditions, traffic etc., and if all drivers took responsibilty of their actions and were curteous of others on the roadways.... I wouldn't have one of the highest insurance premiums because of the county & state that I live in ( and no accidents or citations ) Again, it all falls back on responsibities and common sense....

oh I've street raced before, the mustang pulled ahead while the ranger and i were even until i reached 40km/h. I got up to a whopping 60km/h (the speed limit) and cruised on from there.
Mind you it took about 15 seconds to get up to 60km/h because it was icy and traction control was kicking in all the way.

I must admit though, I do push my car and myself to about 80% of my skill level. I wouldn't consider it street racing, I consider it a skill, tactical and awareness improvement course.

My friend was helping me out by picking up my RX from it's oil change. He decided to take the long way along the gravel roads. He also learned how to drift all by himself with his '95 Mustang. He is the only driver that can actually scare the living crap out of me. Now I consider HIM careless and wreckless, though I doubt he does.

I guess in the end it is all about perspective, but it's the dicta... umm i mean moderators who have an iron fis... umm, control this forum and it is up to their discretion who to eradic.... umm i mean ban or erase their post.

In SC LOL too many tourist to raise the limit on secondary roads.... no direct interstates going into the beach..... very few areas on I-77 & I-95 have 70mph in SC.

Point taken. Unfortunately there are a lot of numb skulls out there that don't concider those things.
