Ignore list vs. moderator status

For circumstances where certain posters are a source of constant irritation, it is oft suggested that such individuals be added to one's Ignore List. It has proven useful, but the short peace enjoyed was interrupted by TeamRX8s promotion to moderator. This apparently blocks him from being ignored, so one is treated with scores, if not hundreds, of helpful posts like this:

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...2&postcount=19

Can the "unblocking" function be altered so that it only applies to Super Mods?

I've found that if you read the posts you don't like with the imagination that the words are coming from this

it makes it much easier to put up with.

I am only a moderator in the DIY area so this surprises me since I have no moderator access outside of that area

You do understand the correlation between the two words "ignorant" and "ignore" right?

TeamRX8 isn't a Moderator. A list of the site staff can be found here: https://www.rx8club.com/showgroups.php
He has limited rights to the DIY Forum. This has been issued to others before. Like Rotary13B1 & bern have in the SevenStock Forum, Herblenny has in the DGRR Forum or Phil's 8 does in the WHIV Forum.
He has been providing a valuable service in that forum.

Thanks for the clarification, Al. The bump up in rights, however, seems to have had the unintended consequence of taking him off of ignore lists. He already seems to have unique, unlimited "rights" to insult anyone he choses to (as above) without ever being sent to his room without his supper for a time out. Why this is so, is to me unclear, since other frequent contributors and especially forum gurus like the ones you listed, manage to be civil without adult supervision. Oh well.

in the comment you are referring to there is more wit and wisdom than insult. I suppose it's a good thing that forums didn't exist in Mark Twain's time.

If I had been on your ignore list then you wouldn't have seen the corrections to the miscalculated MAF flow numbers that everyone accepted without question. That's what I was referring to in my previous comment, which you probably also twisted into a personal insult. It also explains why you need an ignore button rather than just ... wait for it ... just simply ignoring anything I post.

You can't seem to recognize or admit that you have a huge personal beef about me in general and that's why this is posted publicly rather than discretely discussing it with a Super Mod by PM. By and large this situation centers around you not only being personally offended too easily, but also going out of your way to put the offended spin on anything posted by me, and then coming at me over it to boot. I can assure that I have been reprimanded plenty, and rightfully so in nearly every case.

I can further assure you that there is no favoritism either. I get plenty of insults and attacks, but have always dealt with it rather than resorting to an ignore button or notifying a moderator. In fact, I have no expectation or desire for a moderator to address any attack, insult, or any other "words will never hurt me" attempt sent my way, but they do occasionally step in on their own behalf, not mine. I only wish I had learned to operate on that level of maturity a long time ago, but I suppose we differ on what we consider mature and what we don't. Ultimately you have your opinion, I have mine, and everyone else has theirs too. There really isn't any need to be offended or take anyone elses opinion personally. It's only their opinion.

.

Team has received 2 violations in the past (once by myself). Today, I had to issue a violation to someone that was attempting to insult him. I likely caught it before it was seen. The staff doesn't want to see personal attacks, no matter where they come from. I'm not aware of anyone that plays favorites.
There is nothing I can do about the ignore option and probably nothing the admins can either. If you are annoyed by his posts, I guess you just have to skip them when you run across them.

Some times it takes time to understand certain people on this forum and if you read a lot of what they post, you will see what their true intentions are.

I have gone from hating a few of the members on this board to really respecting them and actually become good friends with a couple of them. I believe Teamrx8 is a good guy and if you asked me what I thought of Teamrx8 a couple of years ago, I would have told you he was a total dick. Opinions change.

Teamrx8 tells it like it is whether he seems to like you or not and I can respect that. Sometimes the truth is hard to hear and people don't like being called out so they take it as a personal attack. It's hard for some to understand but if you read what he posts you will see that generally his intentions are good and that he really does provide useful info. That doesn't mean I agree with everything he says or does but that is the beauty of this site, there is great knowledge here and you have to take the good with the bad and participate with people of all different skill levels and experience in order to learn from the people on this site.

I think everyone on this forum has been insulted by team. I know someone who knows you (TeamRX8) and said you are a good guy. Has anyone ever come up to you in person and had a go for things you said on here? You can be a pain in the neck sometimes but you can also give out lots of great info too.

HiFlite I will make you a deal. The DIY forum needs someone to perform maintenance and keep it cleaned up. I have completed the major task at hand, which was going through and moving and editing numerous hundreds of threads that were mistakenly posted there. It is just simple maintenance now to address mis-posts there. If it is not kept up though, the situation will just manifest itself all over again.

If it really bothers you that much and there is not any other means to address it, with the Moderator Staff's approval I am willing to step aside if you are willing to take over DIY forum maintenance tasks. I don't think there is any fairer way for us to handle it than this.

Of course this offer doesn't mean we'll be taking warm showers together and swapping bodily fluids, so don't get any crazy ideas ...

what can I say, I'm just too busy insulting everybody i.e., all 18,887 members, to have any time left for anything else

people often insult themselves by over-exaggerating to other people who know better ...
