As to the legality of the inserted links, true, I have not gone back to look, but I doubt that the board has limitless authority to change the individual posts, at least not under the agreement that existed when I joined. The owners of the board would never be within their rights to modify an innocent post solely to suggest that the author was a child molester, for example -- that would be libel, no matter what the agreement says. Nor do I think the board's owers could ever claim copyright ownership over a poem, picture or story posted without explicit disclosure of the loss of the copyright to the work's author before he posted it -- and I've seen none. I've posted lots such stories and photos and, unless shown otherwise, I believe I own the copyrights to those works, even though I think the board has likely taken the right to use them. (If the board sold a photo I took to Car and Driver, for example, it would be violating my copyright to the photo, even though I've probably signed away any right to complain when the photo gets put on the site's home page.)

Am I going to sue? Of course not. Am I going to keep posting? That's the harder question.

-PS: LOL. Car and Driver is an advertised link. Who knew? I shoulda guessed.
Actually, posts are threads. A forum TOPIC is made of many posts threaded together. You can see this concept by clicking "Display Modes" at the top of the page, then chosing "threaded mode". Years ago, this type of view is how most forums looked...there would be the MAIN topic...and each post would be a thread..and each thread connected. As an example, me quoting you would branch off from the main topic...and since you quoted me...your post would be a thread from mine...
Code:
[main topic]
         |
[someones reply]
         |
[someone elses reply]
         |
[my reply]------------------|
                            |
       [your reply to my comment]
Also any content you submit to a message board becomes the property of them. The owners of this forum could sell the site tomarrow...and what are they actually selling? The Information/images on the site...and who supplies most of the information? The users...could we ever sue them asking for money because they sold the site and made money off of our text and pictures? Nope...we cannot. Also, for an example...if i setup rx-8club.com, and started manually copying posts from this site to mine, in reality the owners of this site could seek legal actions (though it wouldnt be worth it). But you, even if the threads were 90% yours, couldnt do anything.
In closing...
If a user decides to post anything on a public message board, it is public domain.
Any and all content on a public message board is the property of the webmaster, as in the one who owns the database. If he wants to edit/change/move/remove anything, that's his call and there isn't anything legal whatsoever anyone can do to the webmaster.

Aside from your discussion of "threads," which may or may not be correct -- I simply don't know, the above quote is widely considered to be true, but is completely wrong under very well established U.S. law, as well as the law of those countries that have signed the Berne Convention. Fine, go write your responses in microsoft word, and don't post them on this forum. Then you will own the rights to those words.

It's quite simle acutally. The links are here to stay, whether you like it or not.

If you don't like it, take your little ball and go home.

The rest of us have learned to accept them, so should you.

It brings up an option box at the bottom of pages where Javascripting is blocked. You simply click the allow option and the page runs like normal. Screenshot below.

Oh, now come on. It isn't that big of a deal. Just turn them off on your machine and forget about it.

Just add "0.0.0.0 rx8club.us.intellitxt.com" (no quotes) to the end of your hosts file and you won't be bothered by them any more.
No "script blockers" or anything like it is needed.

The hosts file is in the /system32/drivers/etc/ folder.
