To graft the nose/engine of an RX-8 on a MX-5?
How involved a process would this be?
They are both based on the same chassis, although the front structure is different. Could the front structure of the 8 be grafted in?
And how would this bastard look (someone photochop it please)

 

I'm sure it's doable, since someone has already done that for an RX-7. But I don't know if they had a bumper custom made to fit the RX-7 or if they hacked up the OEM RX-8 bumper...

 

When they were testing the NC mules on the Nurburgring they had RX-8 front ends. I can't find the pictures though.

Yeah it could be done, it would take a lot of sweat and custom work obviously, but since it is basically the same chasis it could be pulled off. Just fitting the bumper and engine would be the tough part, (it would be a killer auto x car)
