Lexus IS500, what a joke!

I like the looks of the new IS, but if Lexus is claiming a 0-60 time of 5.4 secs for the IS500 that's pathetic. It is supposed to compete with the M3, RS4, and E55, but it needs sub 5 secs to do that. I'm sure thay will sell a boatload, even though it will cost I think around $45k. What's more pathetic is that the new G35 sedan does the same 5.4 secs(MotorTrend Oct.), and when the new coupe comes out it will probably be faster by a couple of ticks. And I give props to Nissan for the new VQ that revs higher, and not just increaseing the displacement again for more power.

Like everyone I'm waiting for Mazda to gives us a FI RX, if not we are going to be eating even more dust to the new 350Z's and G35's.

I'm so confused...

- The IS500 is not a car yet... nor do any real specs exist for it
- The IS350 has a 0-60 time of 5.1 sec and a 13.7 1/4 miles as tested by car and driver
- The IS500 will be a lighter weight coupe version with a 5.0L V8 or V10 that will blow the doors off of the IS350 sedan

I don't think Lexus/Toyota would release the IS500 unless it beat the IS350 in acceleration.

the IS500 will definately be a mid to high 4 second 0-60 car. After getting into the RX8 0-60 times don't really bother me quite so much--I prefer a car that feels like an extension of me.

I think it depends if the traction system is on or not, and the model.

Not everyone is waiting for Mazda to give us a FI RX, take matters into your own hands and make one for yourself. Also, Mazda has given us plenty of FI RXs, you can get some off the used market.

Ah, I remember, you're the one that thinks that the Acura TL is a "boring" car. Let me ask you, have you driven any of these cars or do you just think they are boring because of the way they look on the outside. I guess I just don't understand your definition of boring. Ok let me ask you, do you have a boring car or is your car exciting?

The TL isn't even boring to LOOK at. It's a very attractive sedan that is a hoot to drive, too.

I have driven the TSX, which is supposed to be as sporty as the TL. Both are FWD as well. Havn't driven the TL Type-S though. The TSX was fun for a FWD car, but compared to a RWD car like the 8 it just doesn't cut it.
