How to Paint Your Calipers!!!

So just a quick intro about me...
Names Andrew Kang i live in Old Tappan, Bergen County, NJ.
Im 15 and i am awestruck by cars, the car of my desire is the 8. Obviously.
Well since i was 13 ive been helping out modifying cars with my older friends, well last week we painted my friends calipers, Very simple actully...

If your broke, low on cash, or just looking for a quick flashy mod, painting your calipers sure adds alot of spunk to your car.
*** NOTE ***
This tutorial may cause injury or damage your car, in no way am i held responsible for damage that occurs during the paint job.

On to the Job...

***NOTE*** IT IS GOOD TO DO THIS PROCEDURE THROUGHOUT 2 or 4 FULL DAYS

1) Go out to home depot or a hardware store and go for DupliColor's pack of paint, a brush, caliper cleaner, and masking tape. Youll also need a Jack to suspend your car from falling on your face or a strong person. Youll also need a toothbrush to clean. (no pun intended)

2) Next, check the weather picking a relatively dry day is the best to paint your car on any spot, itll make things easier and able to dry quicker. You always want to paint inside incase of uncalled for thunderstorms or some gay thing of that matter.

3) Get ready for the paint job, first by sustaining a desired wheel side with the jack. (choose a sturdy spot) Then take off one wheel at a time by just unscrewing the lug nuts. Lastly pull out the wheel and leave aside or whatver you wish.

4) You want to clean the caliper get that gunk off the caliper and with it take off the rust with the toothbrush and some Scrubbing Bubbles if youd like. If not just scrub with the Caliper Cleaner included in the package. Make sure you scrub violently so you get all the microscopic particles of silt off the caliper so you dont screw your self over when you paint. (THE 4TH STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT)

5) Lay some newspaper under the caliper and around that area OR you can leave some badass DupliColor on your garage floor to make it seem like your a body shop pro when your friends are over but other than that youll want to cover up your floor with newspaper, so you dont get beat by your parents.

6)So now begin masking off the drum so you dont paint the drum, that would be retarded unless intended. Then you want to paint with the caliper paint included in the package. Now your going to want to get a paint brush if not included a good 1/2 inch wide brush and CAREFULLY dip the brush in the paint wipe most of the excess paint off onto the newspaper and paint with the paint that is on the brush not DRIPPING from the brush. Apply 1 coat and let it dry. Your going to want apply another 3-5 coats to keep it from flaking later on. Make sure you let the paint dry in bewtween coats.

7) YAY your done with one caliper now either let it dry for 6 hours with a fan and repeat steps in step 6) or let it dry for a full 24 hours naturally (recomennded) and then repeat step 6 for the desired caliper.

8) After a good period of time suspended and dried, Screw the wheel back on and then you should be ready to move on to the next caliper desired!

I hope your calipers turn out well, My friend's sure turned out kickass all done by me.

And remember im 15 so it shouldnt be that hard for you veterans...

hehe you guys will see more of me around.

Ill try to share as much knowledge as i can if i see a subject not discussed

Just a lil suggestion here "youngin"

Thanks for the info. Pretty cool for a 15 year old however, you have a bit of growing up to do before you start calling people you don't know "oldies". It's just a respect thing.

You can leave comments like "clean the cow crap of your calipers" and stuff out of your tutorial. It's just not necessary. I understand you trying to add some humor to your post but we all know what you mean.

Just giving you a warning before you get FLAMED on here hard core by some of the veterans.

Glad to see you are so interested in cars at an early age. By the way, I'm only 25.

read this first before doing another "do it yourself", and if there is something you can add or a tip you didn't see then create a new thread explaining.

cheers

Oh I wasn't offended.

I was just trying to warn you to possibly tone it done in the future so you don't get slammed by some of the veterans.

Just a lil friendly advice.
