Question Tach Signal?

I am looking for the location to get a consistent tach/RPM signal. I have searched up and down on the forum and cannot locate the answer.

From what I have read on this forum is that all 4 coil packs are putting out the same signal, however their are signal spikes. I have also read that the trailing coil pack is the most consistent RPM readout, is this true? Is there a different location such as the ECU or the CAN that puts out a better/consistent signal? I know at the dash it is putting out a digital signal, and have spoken with MSD - they state that the signal can be converted with a tach driver. Has anyone tried any of these methods and had success?

I Appreciate all your help and any feedback would be a great deal of help!
