lol, he needs an upgrade, what he likely meant is it's not CAN compatible

Just a casual 4 year bump from the dead...

So I notice that a new touch version of the Informeter is out, and these jobs are discontinued, has anybody had any experience with the newer ones?
Hopefully RX8 compatible...

looks like RE make for rotary too.. i think there is no much different, just a plug and play ODB II reading scan like others.. but if i recall the infometer got the sensor itself to get a real reading like oil pres or oil temp..

Na the informeter needs extra bit of loom and separate sensors for oil press, boost etc, from what i've read. Can still look at all OBD CAN items though, and check, clear dtc's

I wonder if the RE one is just a skin and extra pic or if it is actualy different form the normal informeter...

^ i think there is no much different, just a skin which make it a limited edition.. i have seen it before, here's some installation pics of it on RX8..

I want one.

A regular one that is.

There wouldn't be any difference at all, they're only making 300 of those Amemiya ones, would just be cool skin and pic. Prolly be more $$ for the Amemiya name.

Update, I gave in and bought one. The nice touch one that is.

Though Mazda isn't listed (except FD3S), you can select ISO CAN, which connects to the cars network and can read everything the PCM can. So I can see o2 sensor voltage, injector duty cycle, throttle voltage, water temp, and a crap load of other stuff, it can even monitor fuel trims, litres to the km (has imperial units too) and other fuel monitoring applications.

All in all, it was rather pricey, but I feel its worth it if you can afford one. Look up videos on youtube.

I bought this cool thing called a Cobb AP which reads all of that and also allows me to upload maps and change engine values and can use it to professionally tune your car.

Serious, buck up a bit more for the Cobb

Thats sounds pretty cool, but I don't like the idea of changing maps and engine values as I'm not a professional rotary tuner, and don't have any intentions of tuning my rotor. I trust Mazda can get the maps in a good compromise between longevity and performance, plus I always make sure my PCM is up to date.

read: I'm too poor to afford dyno time, paying for a tuner etc.

Whats the story with the oil pressure/temp, are they still extra sensors/connectors?
