Wink Winton Raceway Track Day - 20th March 2006

OK All, as mention we are trying to put together a track day at Winton Raceway. The track is 10 min from Benalla (2 1/2 to 3 hrs from Melbourne depending where you are) and looks a little something like this

For pricing so far I have gotten Peter Fitzgerald to quote 495$ per person for 6-8 people and I am not sure if he will allow more than that at the moment. I not sure if those numebrs are because there is only one of him or that he doesnt want more than that many people on the track.

If we hire the track ourselves its $3750 for a Monday or Tuesday and $5250 for a Sunday.

Hands up....

I am sure there will be more people interested from the last meet and we can make it a regular.

We need a plan for the fuel cans ... the closest 98 Octane is in Benella

You can go there for open practice on on a Friday for $100. Ive done it quite a few times.

If someone organises a day there I will go for sure. I'll just have to decide whether to brin the RX-8 or the FD

Rain or shine I wouldn't miss this for anything.

Helmet, Extra fuel

What other items of equipment do we need?
What about food...? I'm always hungry

Oh please join in Kalli. A much safer place to learn than on the wrong side of the road in oncoming traffic

But of course you can watch if that's the sort of thing you like as long as the track allows it!

Count me in. I haven't managed to get out onto the track since the last time we were at Sandown.

I am very interested too.

Weekdays would be fine by me. Preferably not too close to 9th March if that's going to be the First ONeill day of the year, since I would be attending that one too. But essentially any date would be fine.

Well I am sweating my **** off up in Nth Qld....

Kalli, no reason you cant come and watch, but I agree, also no reason you cant come and join in. You will learn so much about your car...Maybe even how to keep it on the right (thats proper) side of the road

There is 100 and 98 at the track if that is what you are worried about. The 98 has 10% ethanol though.

Have fun at Winton guys. However, think long and hard before you switch your DSC off.

If you dont turn off the DSC at Winton you will be at least 4sec a lap slower. Believe me, I tried

Lap times are one thing, paying for your mistakes is another!

agree it is all due to the spongy thing behind the wheel.

I don't Sandown with an DSC on anymore.. it trustrates me and I would tell I was not going full on as I wanted too.... it is like "**** I have it on again" and the light is kept flashing.

There is only one place at winton that you pay for your mistakes and that is the entrance to the last straight (bottom right corner of the picture I posted) as it has a concrete wall right after some gravel. The rest of the track is very open if you miss a turn or leave the track.

I tend to think that the DSC gets in the way on a track more than anythingas it steers the car very untrue.

Agreed Andrew - I'm just sounding a note of caution for the beginners out there who decide to come along. It may get in the way but it can also save your *** if enthusiasm overcomes ability.
