Time with my RX8 on a Beautiful Day (pics...)

Well today was just perfect and decided to give my RX8 its fall waxing. Took almost 4 hours but the results are breathtaking.

Used the following:

Car Soap - Blue Collar Ultimate Gold
Wax - Eagle One Nanowax (I swear by it, better than that Z stuff)
Windows - Vinegar and water solution, then Rain X wipes (helps with seeing during rain)
Leather - Amour All Leather Wipes (manna from heaven)
Interior vynil - Amour all cleaning wipes and amour all protectant wipes
Vacumm - Sears Shop Vac Professional

Notice the added extras... (front cover, zeta console pad)

And to top it all, some cherry scent spray...

Looks good. Only suggestion is to lose the front bra and get a clear bra. Car will look much cleaner.

Had the clear on the front and still got a stupid nick from a rock, and it started to yellow on top that (didn't originally put it on but got the car that way). So off it went. (Suspect it was put on at the first dealership this car had... Sat in that dealership for an ENTIRE year and then moved to Heritage where it sold in two weeks).

The bra is TIGHT and very well made (from Mazda). I have had it on for about a month now with lots of driving through construction, smog, dirt, etc. Whenever I take it off (everytime I wash my car), there is no built up dirt underneath and the interior of the bra (made of a very soft felt) looks like new. Just in case, I vacumm out the bra before I put it back on.

Most bra problems occur when you don't remove it to wash it underneath (boy that can be interpreted in a WHOLE other way). So remember guys, remove the bra before lathering your baby up.

LOL

Had a bra for THREE years on my Mustang. The front had NO NICKS and never had any water or dirt problems with it... But again, get the OEM bra. Aftermarkets have lots of issues (had one with my Civic and ditched it after a year)

Hmm, it would cost you...

What I would do at a lower cost is help you out with yours and give a few pointers (when I was a LOT younger, I used to work at a detailing shop).

And it would only require a free lunch (for me that is)...

Things that make it a LOT easier

Blue Coral Auto Soap (Gold kind is the BEST)... Don't need to dry it (doesn't spot) but I still dry my car.

LOTS OF SOFT TOWELS

Eagle One Nanowax (awesome stuff, it is EASY to put on and if you don't let it overdry, easy to take off)

Wheel brushes (those wheels get DIRTY!!!)

LOTS OF SOFT TOWEL (100% cotton) ... wait I already said that...

Are you going to the import Columbia meet. We can meet up then...

Later

No bra for RSD... I won't go there !!! :o

Thinking of getting zanio stuff to use... Read a few posts. Find Eagle One Nanowax gives a DEEP shine that lasts for at least a couple of months (with washes).

Something tells me it would provide a very deep luster showroom shine (from other pics I saw). Would like to see a zanio done RX8 in person first. Hoping one will be at the next meet.

I like the "bra" psb! I've always used them on road trips. Regular cleaning is the key as you said. Car looks great! Did you venture into the engine bay? A really clean 8 needs a clean engine too...maybe you forgot that pic!

No, I am a total IDIOT cleaning the engines. With this one, I guess I could take off the plastic and clean that separately, but I am always afraid to spray an engine out ever since I short circuited my alternator the first time I did it to my Escort 15 years ago.

I could use some help in that department, any pointers...

Cold engine, hot steam, not high pressure. The pressure is what forces the water into areas you don't want it. Steam will heat the grease and the water just washes it away.

Maybe some mild cleaner, but I don't know about "Engine Gunk", that might eat away plastic long term.
