you can get a hydraulic hood mounts (two of them)...so you don't need the part that keeps it from falling when you open it anymore (is that what you were asking)...i saw it on Japanparts.com but it isn't cheap...but that's the autoexe one...i think someone on here got some that mounted right up from like sutozone or something like that...but i forgot who and i forgot where they got them

sorry

The Autoexe ones are expensive. Use the search and find the post where someone used some Autozone parts to modify the hood mechanism.. it was cheaper (About 30 bucks at most) and easier than expected to install.

Don't attempt the trunk shock. Look at the weight of the front hood and the length.

The ones in the rear will not work for the hood.

I'm not sure if you saw this one yet. It's in the DIY section found here.

For the DIY hood struts, JC Whitney stocks the Strong Arm struts StealthTL mentioned in his thread. I got them and currently am working on the upper brackets.
You need four 6 mm threaded ball joints for these struts that are available at a local parts store (I got mine at Napa), but JC whitney might have these too, I didn't check.
These struts are verified to have the appropriate push, so they won't cause damage to the aluminum hood (at least not until they start to stick :D)

No. At least not into your car.
However, since you have to fabricate the upper mounting brackets, you will have to drill holes into the custom bracket

They are a stock accessory in the UK, about 100UKP, I got them as a replacement for the illuminated gearstick when I got fed up with them failing (had 8!)

Surprised they aren't available in the US from Mazda.
