BC Folks - Front License Plates...
BC Folks - Front License Plates...
I'm wondering if any of you would suggest I (gasp) install the front plate on my car for a drive I'm doing this weekend. I remember something about the cops in BC being **** about front plates. I was thinking of just finding a way to zip-tie the plate on...worth the trouble?
I don't have my Front plate on... and I've not been hassled yet.
I'm pretty sure they use it as an extra way to **** you over if you're driving like a dick though.
If you're cool with the police, they won't hassle you for it. But if you catch their eye... look out!

it all depends on the cop really.. there are a few dicks out there.. who just are plain ********.. pick on you for ridiculous things when they get bored on a slow night...
but since you are a out of towner you might get away with it...BUT if the cop is a dick he can ticket you.. because you must not be ignorant of the law and must recognise the law of the province you drive in bla bla..
i have mine on because i got front tint. and dont want them pulling me over for a licence plate.. and then pick on the tint too... because some of them ask you to roll up your windows.. happend to a friend of mine..
JUST on the safe side carry your plate with you and place it behind the windshield that works usually...

Hi there,
We are from Alberta... where you don't need a front liscence plate... We travel in BC all the time. No you don't need a front plate, only the BC Cars do. End of story. We have personalized plates, so we only have one (the other is mounted on the garage wall). Don't worry about it.

I took the plate to wash my car and got a ticket at a road block (middle of no where on a weekday of all times!) in 2 days...

but hmmm since you're out of country, you can say you thought it was the same as in WA that no front plate is required.
Anyhow, hope you guys have fun this saturday and post lots of pics! :D

THE LAW IS THE LAW..simple! it applies to EVERYONE who enters the provincial borders of BC... ure an idiot for making that remark!
police normally dont harrass you for not having a front plate if you arent from BC.. BUT if they wanted to prove something they can still ticket you...no one is immune to it!

You can't be ticketed for not having a front plate in BC if you're not given one in Alberta. The Alberta government doesn't give me a second plate, so I can't be charged for that "offense" in BC.
Period.

It's like when I used to get Americans bringing up booze that's over their exemption I don't go crazy and tax them on everything if they didn't know and it's like their honey moon. On the other hand if the traveller tells me that they travel all the time and knows all the regulations and duties then I wouldn't flinch to let them pay for what they know they have to pay.

The law is the law, and the it says;
"Number plates for a vehicle shall be attached
(a) where, under the Act, 2 number plates are issued and authorized for display on a vehicle, one plate to the front and one plate to the rear of the vehicle..."
So, if the plates were issued in BC under the Motor Vehicle Act then you have to display 2 plates, one front one rear.
If your plates were issued in another jurisdiction then you can't be ticketed, even if you are supposed to have two plates on in your home province (or state).
