Fronts:
Your new wheel will have the following chracteristics:

The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 23mm MORE
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 35mm

Rear:

Your new wheel will have the following chracteristics:

The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 8mm MORE
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 46mm

I think that's a bit too much tire sticking out.

Where did you get this info?

Is there a site to generate this data?

The 18 X 8.5 +21 will work in the REAR with a small tire like the 225/45 stock and with 245/40 tires if you tuck your fender.

The above rim will NOT work in the FRONT unless you went with a smaller than stock tire. Even then you would have a lot of the wheel sticking out.

ok...i tried to figure out the math. here goes:

with a 19x8.5 +34 offset, the front wheel is pretty much flush with the outside fender. you would get about a 50mm/2in. lip.

with a 19x8.5 +21 offset, the front wheel would stick out about 35mm/1.4in. out from the outside fender. the lip would be about 63mm/2.5in.

with a 19x9.5 +36 offset, the rear wheel will sit flush with the outside fender. you would get about a 69mm/2.7in. lip.

with a 19x9.5 +23 offset, the rear wheel will stick out about 35mm/1.4in. from the rear fender. the lip would be a massive 82mm/3.2in.

so, the offsets you have found on ebay will not work unless you do some heavy fender modification.

Bookmarked.

Thanks very much.

A general question: How much extra can the outside edge of the wheel extend outward?

It depends on the tire.

I have 275/35 - 18's on my back wheels which are 9.5" + 45mm and the tires are perfectly flush with the fender. I usually have no rubbing but with two adults in the back seat, I will get some rubbing occasionally. So I am right at the clearance edge (I have not tucked my fender lips yet though.)

So if you decreased the tire size, you can decrease the offset. I would guess that the 9.5" + 36mm would in fact put the rim flush with the vehicle but 275 would cause some serious clearance problems (and would be sticking out somewhat causing appearance problems as well.) You would need to go with a 255 or 245/40 to make things work on a clearance and cosmetic level.

I don't know about the front, but my advice is to definately play it conservative up there.

Planning to go for the Enkei wheel with 8.5" and +35 offset on a 235/40 tyre...

By the sound of it, it is a very conservative setup.

When I use up this cheap set of Pilot Sport in 235. I will go for 245/40.
