How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems by Jeff Harman. Just wondering if anybody had read it and would recommend it or any alternatives to a newbie like myself. Thanks.

Also, what about Building & Tuning High-Performance Electronic Fuel Injection by Ben Strader?

I have it. I think it's pretty good. Kinda technical. How much experience do you have with EMS? I think it's good for beginner to intermediate tuners. Like every other tuning books, it's focus on piston and very little on rotary, but the general principle is all there. I find the project cars some what helpful.

IF you are interested in turbos and never done it before, get "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. It's kind of dated (copy write in 1997,) but it's a very good book to start with. Gives you a very good understanding on turbos and how to put together a custom turbo system.

After reading it, I feel I could tackle a custom install.

Maximum Boost is already on the list. And I'm definitely a beginner tuner.

I checked both books long time ago, and ended up not buying them. They don't have a detail explanation of tunning timing at diferent loads (and\or idle), if a book can cover this info, then is not good enough

BTW - The one with the diferent stand alone, is a JOKE! Its more like a guide to buying a stand alone.
