Question i've seen the posts/pics of the splash guards.... verdict? do they work?

i didn't see anyone actually post results of how well the splash guards do their job.
opinions?

i was thinking about putting some on mine- yellow is totally a new thing for me. man, the dirt gets on the bottom of that thing wayyyy tooo fast, soo annoying!! i'm used to my black honda, where you didn't even really notice the dirt along the bottom after a simple drive.

They 'work', but the car still gets dirty, just not as much. Otherwise, I think they look really nice and have a 'built-in' appearance, not just tacked on as do most cars

I can testify that it works. I had my 8 without splash guards or appearance kit for almost 3 months and everytime I drive it off a wet road or when it is raining, I would get all the cementing mud on the sides and backsides of my car. Nasty.

I don't see that anymore after my splash guards. And if you check out the insides of my splash guards you could see the kind of crap it gets. Good thing it's there and not on my paint.

I hd my splahguard put on about a year ago, and there's not as much crap on the doors as there used to be, that and in the rain it keeps the spray from the tires down. A curtousy to those behind you, now only if all SUV's had them be mandatory.......jackasses

Yes they do work ver well but you will always get some spray to a certain degree. I with the guy above all SUV should be mandatory. Worth the $$

Work well, and look good.
Rear's are a little bit small as they also do the 16 inch wheels.
Front do a great job as these are for the 18 inch wheels.

Do they still fit on the car if you have the appearance package? And what if you have side skirts?

mine is yellow too, splash guards do work, but don't expect it to keep your car clean forever.

I actually like the look of the splash guards as opposed to the aero flares. If you have side skirts or
the rear aero flares) then you cannot use the splash guards.

The aero flares get no-where near the front wheels. Why wont the front splash gaurds install on a car with aero flares?

I'm sure the front could be used with the side aero flares. I was referring to the side skirts he asked about.. It says on Mazda's site that the rear splash guards cannot be used with the side aero flares either. Which I guess when I think about it doesn't make sense either because the side aero flare mounts in front of the rear tire and the splash guard mounts behind it.

You can see from my post above(#12) I was referring to the rear aero flares not the side areo flares :D

I forgot which website I saw this, but you CAN install the front & rear splash guards WITH the side flares. It is just a different look, and in my opinion looks better too...different from the "standard" package...

I was in a Mazda dealer this past week and the parts guy showed me where the parts book says the front splash guards are "not to be used with aeroflares". I saw it with my own eyes. It makes no sense to me and I know there are tons of cars with pictures on this site to prove they can, but any idea why Mazda says they can't be used? Any issues with installation when the appearance package is already there?

you can put the front splash guards on with the side aero flares....they in no way interfere with each other.

Mugatu,

Noticed your red strakes. I think they are going to be one of my next mods. Where did you get them and do you recommend?

Zoom, Zoom!

Don't listen to Mazda on the aero kit / splash guards thing...TRUST ME.

They reason they tell you that it cant be done is because you have to cut a small rubber / plastic piece off the bottom of your car in order to install the front splash guards.

It's SUPER easy! You can cut the small strip off with a pair of sharp scissors.
