you installed the 6 disc in dash right? don't worry buddy that extra connector is for an external disc changer...and is called EX1 (external one) I use the PIE adapter which is connected to that connection and this allows an AUX in...or you can use it to hookup an ipod and control it by the steering wheels

GROUND the HU, check fuses (room, radio, ect.)
The chassis must be grounded

Throw it on the ground !!
The radio needs to be grounded to the vehicle (metal of radio to metal in dash) for the system to work.

did you disconnect the battery BEFORE you started working on the HU?

just check if the connectors are fully in...the big one is a pain to push all the way

yes sounds like you need to reset your connections. the Text display is that small one with foam around it.. its easy to for get to plug that in.. it is the first one you unplug when you get the HU to slide out , so you can forget and just slide it back in wihtout plugging that back in. Also check all the fuses and then strat up the 8 . then turn on the HU ...

Ill tell you all what it was... it was the connecter thats on the two sides of the head unit (inside) and the cd/player radio hardware... make sure those are connected well...
