I've got the XM Roady. Just put it in kinda temporarily until I see how things worked out. I put the Roady on the ashtray door (quit smoking in January), and the antenna on the rear shelf.
I like this setup - I'm gonna make it more permanent this weekend. I will say my dropouts are almost eliminated going from my Maxima to the 8! Who knows why, and I don't much care. Changed the Roady's backlight to red to match the 8's lights and all's good.
I'll get some pics if you want when I'm done.

huhwha, how did you route the wires into the car?
I have the roady2, I put the antenna on the trunk, ran the wire in through the center pass through, then between the rear seat and the center console, then up into the front. It's less than ideal, but functonal for right now.

Jason,
The antenna is inside the car on the rear shelf. I know XM tells you to put it outside (trunk or roof), but I think it's too much temptation for some dumbass not to screw with it.
The reception's ok for me, but it's pretty flat around central Ohio and not many trees.
FX,
Mine's the Roady 1 - they are virtually the same size. I'll get some pics when I get the install completed this weekend.

I've got the Roady2, mounted the antenna inside the car on the rear shelf. I originally had it on the back roof but I came out one day and the wire was cut. I think it was vandalism, but of course i can't be sure. anyway, it was difficult to find a replacement antenna with the Roady2 being backordered virtually everywhere that sells it. things to take into consideration.

Roady2 here, mounted in the ashtray, antenna on the rear package tray. It sees fine through HO ceramic 30 tint, with wires run through the console along the factory wireway.

XM Roady2 Radio Install
I installed by Roady2 Satellite radio in the rx-8 this past week.
See Pics of finsihed product:
http://cssun.georgetown.edu/~chehraza/xmradio/
Antenna Location:
On the deck at the base of the rear window. I have had good reception as have others with this install.
Radio Location:
I blocked of air flow to one vent so I could vent mount it. I felt the vent location
is a perfect location except for the fact it blocks a vent. I am constantly glancing at the XM radio and didn't want it as far down ad the ash tray. I blocked off that particular vent to I diminish cabin AC/heating ability and not fry/freeze my Roady2.
Install:
I got the PIE MAZ/PC-ALP and the PIE ALP/M-RCA for a direct connect (I've got firmware 9.55). (http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piemazpcalp.html)
I got to the back of the radio following these instructions:
http://www.whatsmyip.org/ipodrx8/
* Two notes on accessing the radio. 1: To get better access to the infamous bolt I removed that metallic guard located at the drivers knee (I think four screws). 2: To detach the inputs at the back of the radio I used a dentist mirror and cut some of the electrical tape around the wires to give them more play.
I removed the mid console vents (two screws and everything else is plastic tabs once the radio is out). I blocked off the vent with cloth (all vent ducts communicate w/ each other so I am diverting flow, not eliminating it). I drilled a hole in the bottom side of the vent and ran my wires though it. So, the wires actually come out of the vent and attach to the Roady2.
Wires:
Antenna. I run along seats/center console and up around the drivers side leg area to the vent
Power: I took out the cigarette lighter and put it behind the ashtray and ran the wire to the vent to power the XM.
Output: PIE direct connect. ( I put the RCA connection hidden near the passenger leg area in case I want to put an auxillary switch in the future).

Has anyone tried connecting the PIE MAZ/PC-ALP to a Alpine XM Direct Unit (Blitzsafe) for retaining steering controls/Factory look?
Don't know if it would work, but I would imagine the Alpine XM Direct unit would only mimic an Alpine CD changer... Only thing is that storing presets may not work if using DISC UP and DISC DOWN functions...

can you run an aux in directly from the XM Radio with the blank Cd, and play it that way, as it shows the ipod does, why would you need the apine converter, I have a similar setup to chehrazi, my xm is on the ashtray with velcro, here are some pics, I am currently using the wireless fm modulator but i may try this direct imput hack, on the site thats made for the ipod, and try it with the roady 2.
thanks,
