my a/c seems to work fine, but the car does tend to run a bit hot on the inside area.
I'm going to get the extra insulation put in, has anyone else done this? Did it help?

its not so bad that its really bothersome, but i do notice that i feel like I sweat more through the seats. Just curious, as we live in prolly the warmest climate.

anyone think a larger radiator or other solution might help cool the car down?

 

heh.. sounds like a rotary to me!

while I havent owned an 8'... I have found that nearly all rotaries tend to carry extra heat through the transmission tunnel and directly above wherever the exhausst is run... (under the passenger seat in my cars)

 

i asked this in the general tech forum too, will a higher flow Cat help? Do the stock Cats build up excess heat?

 

I don't know if anthing will help.. higher exhaust temps in general are an inherent trait of the rotary.

 

The factory says the engine cover is to keep the hood from warping. A cat is probably a good idea, go check how low your O2 sensor hangs and you will want to replace it just for that. Not to mention this is one part that plays a role in the over rated horsepower fiasco.

 

My interior got warm the first few days I had the car, but from that point on I have only noticed it a couple times on occasion. Got it last October and just got the A/C amplifier upgrade recently - very nice improvement.

If my car acted like it did the first week I had it, I would be getting the additional insulation, but the way it is right now, I don't think it will be worth it. However, for those upgrading their cat, having the insulation there might help with sound reduction not just heat reduction.

I've had the same problem with my 8. I have had the insulator pad installed; however, the pad has not helped at all. In my opinion it is hotter now. Have you had this same problem? If so have you been able to get it to a normal temperature? I have allowed email response so you can respond or I will check back with this posting.

 

well, mine has gotten better with time, how new is your car? its been pretty hot here but its not bothering me as much now....my car has about 280 miles on it.

 

My car is fairly new. About 4000 miles. Purchased it in April. It's pretty hot here, too. I live in Miami, FL. At night when it is cooler the car is still pretty hot. My Mazda service consulatant so far has told me there is nothing more that they can do. How long ago did you have the heating pad installed? You say it got better with time....

 

its not installed yet. it just seemed over the weekend that the heat from the center console has lessened somewhat, the cup holders still get warm, but I don't fel like its getting into the cabin as much. I noticed when driving yesterday with no shoes the pedals could get a little warm.
