Tire Blues...

I've had the car for a little over a week now and today I get in and the TPMS goes off. After checking all tires, my rear right tire has a nice size nail in it. I'm not sure if I can patch the tire myself or just go to the deal and get reamed. Anyone have any idea how much the tire sell for (OEM)?

On the side note, my TPMS worked!

You may want to look at the for sale thread here. Someone most likely has an OEM tire for sale.

I know I will have 4 of them in a month or so once I get around to purchasing some new, all-weather skins.

Why would you buy a new tire because you got a nail in it? Unless you "patched" it with the tire kit Mazda provided (or you punctured your sidewall), it should be patchable at any good tire shop. Just fill it up with air (if it holds air long enough) and drive it in, or take it off and carry it in. Alternatively, you can buy a patch kit from JC Whitney and do it yourself.

It only costs about 15$ at Walmart, if I remember correctly. It would be daft to buy a new wheel.

I was very impressed by the TMPS. I could not visually see anything wrong.

Yeah, got a nice one in my left rear. Big Chief in Jacksonville fixes them for FREE. Pretty darn good promotion for when you need new skins. I've been buying from them for years, always done me right.
They scarred one of my wheels on my CL and replaced it, no questions asked. They even told me about it rather than having me find it.

This is almost scary but the same thing happened to me about a month after I bought the car - right rear took a large nail. They patched it and it is fine almost a year later.
