What is everyone doing for a third brake light seal replacement?

Mine was completely deteriorated and fell apart, I imagine many others are as well considering the age of every RX8. Tried 15mm round EPDM gasket I had to cut down but did not seal well. Maybe a 3mm or 5mm round.

Atkins is out of stock, and anywhere else seems to be $30-40 plus $20 shipping.

 

Well, apparently can’t even order it as it’s on national backorder.
I hope everyone is checking their trunk lid for water intrusion.

 

What types of gaskets did you use (square, round, V-shaped, etc.)? Where did you buy them (online, from an auto specialist)? And most importantly, how did you ensure a seal around part F151-51-592B?

 

i know its steep but why dont you just buy the whole assembly that comes with the seal?

 

At first I tried this round epdm. Quality stuff but 15mm was too large with minimal squish.
All US stock is out so I purchased the oem gasket from Amamya Japan.

A whole new assembly seems superfluous and wasteful. Maybe for a concours car. The lamp comes apart and I cleaned the lens with plastx to refresh it.
