I've been trying to determine what exactly Versatuner is capable of doing (as opposed to different software like Mazdaedit).
I have a 2004 6-port manual RX8. Right now, it has a full exhaust with catless midpipe. I'm just trying to pass emissions right now, but also intend on doing a turbo built later on. Right now I'm getting a P2096 code (post cat 02 sensor too lean).
If I get Versatuner, will masking the DTC allow me to pass emissions? I live in Gilbert, AZ, where the emissions test is OBD only (no rollers). I seem to get answers saying all kinds of things and was hoping to hear from someone with actual experience.

VT only makes the check engine light go away. ME makes the DTC not show up at all when you read codes. For that reason alone, ignoring many others, VT is worse than ME.
Don't know what kind of inspection they do there, but if they read emissions monitors neither VT or ME tampers with those to the best of my knowledge.
