2007 RX-8 GT, MT, Red /Black, Mint 14k miles

As the last bastion of RX-8 aficionados, I thought to post this here before deciding on next steps. I own a mint, completely original, fully serviced, always garaged, CA/AZ-owned ,'07 Red/Black GT with every conceivable factory option with only 14.5k miles and new tires. It lives under cover, on a battery tender. I bought it two years ago on BaT the original owner and had it shipped to CT, where it went through a comprehensive inspection and fluid flush by the extremely impressed local Mazda dealer who declared it, "an 'as new' unicorn". It was then returned to my warehouse where it has received only 50 'rotate the tires' miles in two years.

I'm open to selling it if anyone is interested. The backstory is, I owned the exact car ('05) back in '06-'11 and absolutely loved it. Of course, back then, I was a German car snob and couldn't leave well enough alone. So I tossed out its original suspension and exhaust and replaced it with everything MazdaSpeed, Bilstein, etc. to utterly transform it into the most enjoyable, cart-like sports car I ever owned. It literally took a Tropical Storm in '11 for us to part ways. So when my 15 year old son back in '22 suggested we find a car project to bond over together, and this '07 became available, I jumped on it. But in fairness, it isn't a project car at all, or at least not the 'teen project' he had in mind. So when he turned 16, we bought him a more practical beater. This poor '07 has sat waiting in the warehouse since then waiting for me to decide what to do with it.

I'm at a decision point: to sell...or use myself...and if use, to keep stock or modify to satiate nostalgic urges. Incidentally, this '07 handles better in stock form than I recall the '05 behaving, so not sure how extensive I'd take the mod's.
Anyway, if anyone here is seriously interested in the car, ping me. Otherwise, I'm also happy to be back amongst fans of this odd, but so enjoyable duck.

This one?

Looks like a great car. Unless you just don’t love it, you won’t find a more enjoyable car for $17k, and candidly I doubt you’ll get any more for it even on BaT. The RX8 is an unappreciated gem, take it out and DRIVE IT! I have a mint 2007 GT that I bought a year ago with 27k miles, I’m about to pass 30k. Wife and I use it for road trips and date nights. I miss my Porsches but you can’t get much for $17k in that department anymore.

Good points and true enough. Yes, I plan to keep and enjoy this gem. It's still in the garage, but I recently installed an AFI Short Shift and figure I'll follow through with the suspension tweaks that made my last one so enjoyable. Agreed, it's a unique experience. I seem to be drawn to unique rides.

FWIW, I typically swapped cars every 3 years but couldn't find one I enjoyed more than the last RX-8, including a Porsche or two. Glad to hear yours' has found an appreciative home as well. How lucky we are to be content with such a price performer.

You're in a rare position: no bad option. If you want to enjoy the car now, even in stock form, you'll be happy. If you want to enhance it to suit your taste, you know how. And if you choose to sell, you have in your hands an elite example that will find a buyer.

Good perspective. I'm inclined to keep it. It's not about the money. My '05 truly was one of, if not THE most enjoyable sporty car I've owned. I'm not normally a believer in returning to an old relationship, but as you imply, it's more like getting a second shot at the love that got away.

It's just that I'm so much better at buying cars than selling them....

Having owned three RX8s and a bunch of Porsches over the years, you’ll have to spend a lot more money to have an equally enjoyable experience.

A 2007 Mazda RX-8 GT with only 14k miles is a rare find. Ensure thorough inspection for common issues like engine seal failures and suspension problems before purchasing.
